Christmas is certainly the most anticipated holiday season in the Philippines. For many Pinoys, it is analogous to joyful reunions and spending time with family, relatives, and close friends.

For many though, going back to their hometowns to celebrate Christmas is not that easy. Travel costs can be a burden, and many do not have the luxury to return to their loved ones in time for Noche Buena.
To that end, Mitsubishi has partnered with smartphone brand Realme to drive two locals back to their respective hometowns. These were Ms. Charmaine Bañez and Ms. Kathy Domingo, both of whom had not had the opportunity to see their families for years.

Of note, both trips entailed all-expense land travel using Mitsubishi car models. For Ms. Bañez, her journey started from Navotas to Quezon Province. In turn, Ms Domingo traveled from the city of Caloocan to Bulacan. For these trips, Mitsubishi provided the Xpander MPV, and the Mitsubishi Strada Athlete to take them home.
The Mitsubishi Xpander, of course, is one of the marque’s more popular models. It can seat up to seven whilst providing ample space for luggage. It also uses a fairly economical 1.5-liter inline-4 gasoline engine capable of making 103 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. And despite being marketed as a family chariot, it features a handsome exterior design courtesy of the brand’s signature Dynamic Shield Grille.
The other vehicle that was used is the Mitsubishi Strada, specifically the Athlete trim. Like other trucks in its class, it is off-road capable whilst being able to provide enough payload capacity for it to be used as a work truck.

Powering the Strada Athlete is a 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine that can make up to 179 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. As the top-spec trim, it comes with a 4x4 drivetrain controlled by Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD II system, with the addition of a center locking differential to ensure traction even on slippery terrain.
