MG Philippines’ first two entries to the growing local electric vehicle (EV) market will be launched tomorrow, October 6, 2023. These are the Marvel R crossover and the MG 4 hatchback. But alongside their debuts, the brand likewise shared that it will also be hosting the “EVeryday Extraordinary” test drive event from October 6 to 8, 2023 to showcase these electric-powered rides.
The MG Marvel R and MG 4 EV
The best part about this three-day test drive opportunity is that it is open to the public. It will begin alongside the model’s launch event at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) High Street Activity Center, Taguig City and it is a good chance for prospective buyers, or even those merely curious to get to know these brand-new electric vehicles (EVs) a little bit better.
Besides showcasing its two new EV models, MG also has special prizes in store for eventgoers. Individuals who will give any of the MG vehicles at the event a test drive may get to bring home gaming consoles or authentic MG merchandise.

Of note, MG Philippines is also bringing its other locally available models to the test drive event. This includes the MG GT sedan as well as the MG ZS and MG HS crossover SUVs.
Going back to the upcoming all-new EVs, not much has been revealed about them as of this writing. Full spec sheets and price lists for the PH-spec models are yet to be shared by the brand.
From what we know about the global version of the MG 4 though, it’s a five-door hatchback with enough room to amply fit up to five occupants. It has a sporty-looking exterior, as well as advanced driver-assistive technologies like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot detection, traffic sign recognition, pedestrian and cyclist detection, among others. The EV hatch also gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The MG 4 EV hatchback for the global market
For propulsion, the one sold in Thailand pairs a single motor with a 51 kWh lithium-ion battery. At maximum, this version of the MG 4 can output 168 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque along with a range of 425 km on a single charge.
The Marvel R meanwhile, is a larger compact crossover with a sleek exterior. It combines this with a clean interior that exhibits a mix of minimalism and comfort. If we refer to the UK-spec version, it also utilizes plenty of advanced safety features similar to the safety suite found on its hatch counterpart. Those are then combined with a wealth of other convenience and comfort features like a power tailgate, sunroof, and a sizable 19.4-inch touchscreen reinforced with Corning Gorilla Glass.
Global market MG Marvel R
In its base form, the global-spec Marvel R uses a 52.5 kWh battery paired to two motors. At maximum, it can churn out 177 horsepower and 410 Nm of torque with power sent to its rear wheels. This powertrain provides the rear-wheel-drive Marvel R with a range of 420 km.
Depending on the market, a more powerful tri-motor all-wheel-drive version is also sold. This meanwhile, can make 284 horsepower and 665 Nm of torque. On the flipside, it has a shorter range of 370 km.
As a reminder, the specs mentioned here are from the global versions of the MG 4 and Marvel R.
