Following the leaked documents from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology unearthed during the model’s unveiling at the 2023 Auto Shanghai, the Cyberster will still come in two variants albeit we have more information this time.

The base MG Cyberster will reportedly be utilizing a single motor, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup, making 314 horsepower. Meanwhile, the top-spec variant can make 536 horsepower and 727 Nm of torque with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) layout consisting of a 204-hp front electric motor and a 340-hp rear electric motor.

Despite weighing 1,985 kg, the MG claims the Cyberster can go from zero to 100 km/h in only 3.2 seconds. That is the same acceleration time as the roadster rival from Porsche, the 718 Spyder RS.

The EV will be available in two variants

In terms of EV capabilities, the Cyberster has a China light-duty vehicle test cycle-rated (CLTC) range of 580 km. Power is supplied by a 77 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which comes standard for the two variants.

Exterior-wise, the EV adopts a conventional roadster design along with a convertible soft top. Marco Fainello, the former chassis dynamics engineer of the Ferrari F1 team, worked on adjusting the chassis including the suspension to provide a spirited driving experience. It is also fitted with Brembo four-piston fixed calipers.

Inside, the vehicle is equipped with screens with the Unreal Engine 4.0 system that promises a 3D immersive interaction, award-winning Zebra Cyber OS (operating system), and a Bose sound system.

The Cyberster boasts supercar acceleration

While the pricing has yet to be disclosed, the MG Cyberster will reportedly arrive in China and UK by 2024. It is still unclear whether the EV roadster will make its way into the Philippine market.

But considering SAIC is now the official distributor of MG in the country, there is a good chance we could see the Cyberster on our roads. After all, SAIC Motor Philippines, Inc. (SMP) is bolstering the brand’s electrified lineup with plans to launch three all-electric models later this year.
