MG managed to wow the crowds at the 2023 Auto Shanghai by revealing an all-new electric vehicle (EV) model. This isn’t just any EV though, it’s the production version of the MG Cyberster, a sleek and sport-looking two-seater roadster that the brand says promises exhilarating performance.

Note that the unveiling of the production version follows the debut of the MG Cyberster Concept in 2020. Looks-wise, the production version Cyberster appears a bit different, but some sleek details were carried over from the concept car. The result is an exterior design that gives a nod to the brand’s performance roots.
The MG Cyberster also gets scissor doors
That said, the 2023 MG Cyberster sports a wedge-shaped front end with a pair of hawk-eye LED headlamps. Topping off the front end is a muscular-looking hood, and down below around the lower air vents are a number of sculpted details.
Its side portion meanwhile, mostly assumes a smooth shape that emphasizes that car’s low-slung stance.
The rear then gets a pair of distinctive, arrow-shaped LED taillights, a ducktail spoiler, and a black-colored rear diffuser.

On top of its good looks, the MG Cyberster also joins the exclusive convertible EV model club. This is coupled with what the brand described as a “contemporary cabin with cutting-edge driver technology.”
As of the Cyberster’s unveiling at this year’s Auto Shanghai, not much is yet known about its EV powertrain. According to a report from Motor1 however, a leaked document which came from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology itself did indicate that the MG Cyberster comes with a front and rear dual electric motor setup.

The rear motor can reportedly produce a maximum of 335 horsepower, while the front motor can churn out up to 201 horsepower. Unfortunately, no information about its battery and range was listed in the leaked document.
The leaked document likewise indicated that this new MG is 4,535mm long, 1,913mm wide, and 1,329 in height. This makes it slightly larger than the Mazda MX5.
This electric-powered sports car offers fun in the sun for its occupants
Do note that the MG Cyberster’s appearance at the 2023 Auto Shanghai is an unveiling and not an official launch. For that matter, MG has yet to set an official launch date for the said EV sports car. Although, a previous report did state that it will be entering full production in 2024 which coincides with MG’s 100th anniversary.
