Seeing an MG vehicle on the streets is relatively becoming common these days. The British-bred carmaker re-entered the local market in 2018 and is showing progressive sales figures as the years go by.
In fact, a report from Inquirer Mobility said that if Morris Garages (MG) had been included in the official counting of total car sales in the first half of 2020 (H1 2020), it would have replaced Foton (1,038 units sold) at the 9th place and eliminated Kia (1,012 units sold) from the top 10.
MG’s sales figures cannot be included in the top 10 rankings since MG is not yet registered as an Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID) member.
In case you’re wondering, the top car brands during the first semester of 2020 is led by Toyota, followed by Mitsubishi, Nissan, Hyundai, and Suzuki.

Now, an official source from MG said and confirmed that it had a total of 1,801 total vehicle sales in H1 2020. What’s more impressive is the fact that MG has accomplished this despite facing the challenges brought upon by the COVID-19 pandemic.
MG had to find a way despite the limited showroom utilization for safety reasons, quarantine restrictions, and the closing of local auto dealerships for two months.
With all that being said, the marketing strategies and approaches of MG in the local automotive market seem to be striving adequately. MG Philippines offers four MG vehicles, namely the 5 Sedan, RX5 SUV, 6 Sedan, and ZS Crossover.

One contributing factor to MG’s notable sales figures in H1 2020 is the launching of its latest sales promo, the “MG Back on the Road”. This promo offers cash discounts and low down payments on four of its local vehicles.
When things are back to normal, one can expect that MG Philippines will further improve its sales figures just like what we have seen in the past months. MG Philippines currently has 18 dealerships with six more soon to rise.
