McLaren Automotive unveiled the Solus GT at the Monterey Car Week in California. It is a hypercar that was first driven virtually in the Gran Turismo (GT) video game, until the British automaker decided to bring it to life. To further elevate the exclusivity, the Solus GT is limited to 25 customers only.
A walkaround of the McLaren Solus GT by Manny Khoshbin
One of the owners is Manny Khoshbin, an Iranian businessman who is fond of sharing his love for cars on his YouTube channel. He recently posted a walkaround video of his new McLaren Solus GT, giving us more details about the hypercar which is developed to be driven on an extreme level on the track only.
The walkaround video revealed that Sony Interactive Entertainment, the developer of the GT video game, reached out to McLaren Automotive in 2017 to ask which model should it add to the virtual racing world. Of course, the McLaren Solus GT was selected, which was later produced in the metal in 2022.
Khoshbin gave us a short tour of his new collection. The extensive aerodynamic bodywork reflects the intention of the automaker for how it wants the hypercar to perform. In the video, the engineers wanted the Solus GT to be driveable like all McLarens, installing it with features such as traction and stability control systems.

Powering the vehicle is a 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated gasoline engine that can rev up to 10,000 rpm. It is said to sound like an F1 car in the 2000s, which would be fascinating to watch on the track. The in-house built power unit is capable of generating 830 horsepower and 649 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed sequential shift gearbox.
The 25 owners of the McLaren Solus GT will be undergoing a full driver-development coaching program that will help tame the beast in the hypercar. They will also get a customized FIA-homologated race suit, helmet, and HANS device, allowing the drivers to have a high-performance track driving experience.
