This is the second such facility in Camarines Sur, Bicol.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has opened a new drive-thru facility in the Bicol region, promising a faster and more convenient way for motorists to renew their vehicle registrations.

This is the second drive-thru registration facility by the LTO in Bicol

Located at the Pamplona District Office in Camarines Sur, the facility is reportedly the second in Bicol, following the first one inaugurated at LTO Pili in the same province. The agency claims that motorists can expect their vehicle registration renewals to have a shorter processing time at the drive-thru facility compared to private motor vehicle inspection centers (PMVICs).

[With the drive-thru facility, registration renewal and processing of documents for motorists will only take three minutes, from the usual 12 to 17 minutes of processing with PMVICs.]

The agency promises shorter processing times than those in PMVICs

The LTO first implemented its drive-thru registration renewal station in August 2020 at the LTO Region 7 branch, located at the MVIC Complex in Subangdaku, Mandaue City, Cebu. That facility in turn was reportedly conceptualized farther down south, in Davao City. At the time, the LTO said that the Cebu drive-thru renewal center can process 150 transactions per day, with each lasting an hour at most.

Requirements for motorists include clear copies of the vehicle’s Original Receipt and Certificate of Registration (OR/CR), insurance certificate of cover, emission test results, and stencils of the vehicle’s chassis and engine numbers. These are presumed to be the same ones that motorists in Bicol will need to bring when availing of the drive-thru registration renewal.

Hopefully this catches on in more areas in the country

What started out as a project in response to the COVID-19 pandemic has turned into an opportunity for the LTO to showcase a more efficient way of serving motorists. Will the agency be able to replicate this for the rest of the country?
