Light trucks now banned on EDSA, Shaw Blvd

The uniform ban on light trucks is enforced from Monday to Saturday.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has started to implement the ban on light trucks along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) and Shaw Boulevard. 

The uniform ban on light trucks is enforced from Monday to Saturday.

Light trucks that have a gross capacity weight of 4,500 kgs., and below are not allowed to drive along EDSA (Magallanes until North Avenue) from 5 a.m. until  9 p.m. The agency is also prohibiting light trucks from traversing Shaw Boulevard (Mandaluyong City and Pasig City) from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., and from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.

The uniform ban on light trucks is enforced from Monday to Saturday except for Sundays and holidays. The ban is said to be applicable to both commercial and non-commercial light trucks. Violators will be penalized with a Php 2,000 fine.  

Last week, the MMDA has also started to implement its existing truck ban on trucks that have a gross capacity weight of more than 4,500 kilos. The said trucks are prohibited from traversing along major thoroughfares in Metro Manila from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. except for Sundays and holidays. The MMDA is also enforcing a total truck ban along EDSA for trucks with a gross capacity weight of more than 4,500 kilos.

Truck ban policy is now being implemented

Based on the MMDA’s truck ban ordinance, trucks having a gross capacity weight of more than 4,500 kilos are prohibited along the said roads from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. 

- España Street through Quezon Avenue from Echague Street to the intersection of West and South Avenue

- Claro M. Recto Avenue from Legarda St. to del Pan Street

- President Quirino Avenue from South Superhighway to Roxas Boulevard

- P. Burgos St. through Ayala Boulevard, Legarda St., Magsayasay Boulevard and Aurora Boulevard, from Roxas Boulevard to Boston Street

- E. Rodriguez Avenue through Bonifacio Avenue from Welcome Rotonda to Shoe Avenue

- South Superhighway through Nagtahan Bridge and Alfonso Mendoza Street from EDSA to Dimasalang Street

- Taft Avenue through Quirino Avenue from Redemptorist Street to Plaza Lawton, to include McArthur, Quezon and Jones Bridges

- Bonifacio Drive through Roxas Boulevard and NAIA Road to Aduana Street to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport

- Rizal Avenue through Rizal Avenue Extension from Carriedo Street to the Bonifacio Monument

- Reina Regente Street through Abad Santos Street from Regina Regente Bridge to Rizal Avenue Extension
