The entrants for the upcoming 2023 Japan Mobility Show (formerly known as the Tokyo Motor Show) keep on coming. The latest automaker to announce its participation is Lexus, and the Japanese luxury automaker will debut a lineup of next-gen battery electric vehicle (BEV) concepts.
Lexus is coming with next-gen EV concepts
Under the theme “Discover a future you can’t wait to navigate!”, Lexus remains mum about the details of the concept cars. But we got three teaser photos that show what we can expect from the upcoming auto show.
The one with the front end comes with a silhouette similar to the Lexus LC. The concept has a low-slung sporty appeal to it, which could preview the next-generation sports cars from the brand. Perhaps the only substantial design cue we can get from this is the sharp L-shaped headlights also found in current models.
This could be the LFA successor
Moving to the teaser photo showing a rear quarter panel, the concept reminds us of the Lexus electric sports car concept revealed last year. There are similarities in the taillight surround and the blacked-out portion of the roofline. This all-electric concept is said to succeed the iconic LFA by 2030.
The last photo with the huge crowd hints at a range of all-electric crossover concepts. Currently, Lexus only has one fully EV model with the RZ compact luxury crossover. It is made available in the Philippines at a price of Php 4,828,000.
Lexus' electrified portfolio will soon expand
Aside from the concept cars, Lexus will also exhibit VR (virtual reality) driving simulators. This will allow eventgoers to experience a future world of driving where electrification and AI technologies play a role in mobility.
The 2023 Japan Mobility Show will happen from October 25 to November 5 (doors open to the public on October 28) at the Tokyo Big Sight in Japan. Lexus will be joined by other automakers such as Subaru, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, and Mazda, among others. All of which will showcase their respective all-electric concept cars.
