Kia Philippines announced that it finished with an impressive sales performance last year. The Korean automaker managed to sell 3,748 units, a 76-percent sales growth as compared to the previous year. Part of this feat is the massive contribution brought by the company’s best-seller in 2021 which is the Kia Stonic.
Kia Stonic
Introduced to the local lineup last October 2020, the Kia Stonic immediately captured the attention of Filipinos with its stylish design and affordable pricing. In 2021, the subcompact crossover sold 1,400 units, accounting for 37 percent of the company's total sales.
On the exterior, the Stonic is available with a two-tone paint finish, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and 16-inch alloy wheels. Meanwhile, interior amenities include an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four speakers with two tweeters, an illuminated push start button, and a rear camera display.
Well-rounded crossover
Under the hood, the Korean subcompact crossover is powered by a 1.4-liter inline-4 DOHC D-CVVT gasoline engine that is capable of generating 99 horsepower and 132 Nm of torque. The engine can be paired to either a 5-speed manual exclusively for the base LX variant or 6-speed automatic transmission.
Trailing the Stonic in Kia Philippines’ 2021 sales ranking are the Soluto and K2500, respectively. The ideal daily driver Kia Soluto accounted for 21 percent of the company’s sales in 2021, while the K2500 commercial vehicle (CV) covers 17-percent of the sales in the same period.
Kia Stonic once again delivered for the brand
In addition, Kia Philippines started to roll out the brand’s new identity last year which debuted at its Alabang showroom. It involves a new philosophy “Movement that Inspires” accompanied by a new logo that will soon be embedded in all Kia vehicles.
“Our teams are inspired by our refreshed vision to equip Filipinos with everything they need to move towards a brighter, bolder future,” said Kia Philippines President Manny Aligada. “We are confident that our purpose-driven vehicles, partnered with our efforts in improving our dealerships, customer care, and after-sales services, will accelerate Kia Philippines into the next phase of growth in 2022 and beyond.”
