The Wrangler came a long way since it starred in the first Jurassic movie.

Collaborations between auto and film makers are always an exciting feat to watch especially for car enthusiasts. Audi starred in various Marvel movies, showcasing the R8 used by Tony Stark. Of course, who wouldn’t have known of the impact Aston Martin has brought into James Bond movies with its DB models.

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe enters the Jurassic world

While all those collaborations are spectacular, Jeep has been long making its brand grow in a film series, particularly in the world of Jurassic Park. And for the last time, the American automaker teamed up with Universal Pictures to help conclude the franchise with the upcoming ‘Jurassic World Dominion.’

The silhouette of a Jeep Wrangler probably has already been painted in our minds as a kid as the off-road SUV first appeared in Jurassic Park almost 30 years ago.

“Almost 30 years ago, moviegoers saw Dr. Ian Malcom escape danger from dinosaurs in the original ‘Jurassic Park’ film while riding in the back seat of a 1992 Jeep Wrangler,” said Stellantis Global Chief Marketing Officer Olivier Francois.

Jeep and Jurassic World go at it for one last movie

The Jurassic world saw the evolution of the Wrangler as the model is now offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain with the Wrangler 4xe. It is the first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) to offer front and rear locking differentials, which are handy on off-roads especially when dinosaurs are on the hunt.

Powering the Jeep Wrangler 4xe is a 2.0-liter PHEV turbocharged engine good for 375 horsepower and 639 Nm of torque. It is paired with 8-speed automatic transmission, a regenerative braking system, and a 17-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Creeks won’t stop the SUV thanks to its 762 mm of water wading capability.

“The Jeep brand has substantially expanded in the three decades since the first appearance of the Wrangler in the original ‘Jurassic Park’ film,” said Jeep brand CEO Christian Meunier. “We have entered into new SUV segments, we have increased our global production footprint.”

The Wrangler 4xe can sneak past dinosaurs with its Electric mode

Don’t miss the Jurassic World Dominion which will arrive in theaters everywhere on June 10. The Jeep Gladiator and a vintage Wagoneer will also join the Wrangler for one last run in the world of dinosaurs.
