Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) has been relentless in expanding the Department of Transportation (DOTr)’s public vehicle modernization program (PUVMP) in the country. It started rolling out its modern jeepneys to different areas in Luzon including Cavite, Cabanatuan, Pangasinan, and more.

City Mayor Alfred Romualdez attended the turnover ceremony

Now, the company is further growing the program’s network down to the Visayas region by turning over 15 units of the HD50S Class 2 to G.C. Godie, Inc. transport cooperative in Tacloban City. The turnover ceremony was graced by key officials from both the national and local governments.

“We are honored to serve communities in the Visayas, such as Tacloban, pursuant of the government’s vision of a better, more sustainable transport system,” said Hyundai Trucks and Buses Cebu President Edward Vincent G. Onglatco.

According to HARI, the new modern PUVs will serve as a huge factor in boosting the economy in the city of Tacloban. Moreover, it also reflects the Korean automaker’s commitment to partnering with various major cooperatives across the country to expand the PUVMP.

What the HD50S Class 2 can offer to Taclobanon commuters are convenience, safety, and comfort. The modern Hyundai PUV is designed with front-facing seats for up to 22 passengers. It is also equipped with an Auto Fare Collection System (AFCS), roof-mounted air-conditioning, onboard Wi-Fi, and a 7-inch monitor.

Safe and comfortable

Powering the HD50S Class 2 is a 2.9-liter common-rail diesel engine capable of generating 158 hp and 392 Nm of torque. To ensure Taclobanon commuters are safe during trips, the modern PUV is installed with GPS tracking and a speed limit warning buzzer.

“Aligned with Hyundai Motor’s mission to drive progress for humanity, HARI CV and our strong dealer network stand with Government, the private sector, and communities to keep on carving a path toward full transport modernization, which is key to our recovery as a nation,” said HARI President and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo.
