The province picks Hyundai to upgrade its mass transport fleet.

The modernization of public transport marches on in Tarlac, as the Tarlac-Moncada-Gerona-Paniqui (Tamogepa) Transport Service Cooperative has taken delivery of new commuter vehicles from Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI).

HARI officials turned over an initial batch of 30 Hyundai HD50S Modern Jeepney Class 2 units to Tarlac's transport cooperative

As the official distributor of Hyundai trucks and buses in the country, HARI turned over 30 Hyundai HD50S Modern Jeepney Class 2 units to Tamogepa, a major transport organization in Central Luzon, backed by a 36-year history.

The handover was led by Dennis San Juan, President for Hyundai Trucks and Buses Cabanatuan. Director Ahmed Quizon of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region 3 also graced the event.

The initial HD50S fleet delivered will soon be followed by an additional 45 units within the year. According to San Juan, this represents Hyundai’s commitment to modernizing public transportation in the region, especially with the dealership providing a complete range of aftersales support.

For his part, Cuizon emphasized the importance of continuously upgrading mass transit in the country to elevate the dignity of the Filipino commuter, uplift the livelihood of PUV drivers and transport cooperative, and contribute to social progress.

HARI says that as a mass transport vehicle, the Hyundai HD50S Modern Jeepney Class 2 conforms to Philippine National Standards (PNS) for passenger comfort and safety, having received the Department of Transportation (DOTr) Certificate of Compliance in 2019.

The model features a 3,415-mm wheelbase with front-facing seats for up to 22 passengers.

Roof-mounted air-conditioning, an Auto Fare Collection System (AFCS), a 7-inch monitor, and onboard Wi-Fi are among the interior amenities on the HD50S.

The vehicle is powered by a Euro 4-compliant 2.9L common-rail diesel engine that makes 158 hp and 392 Nm of torque. Safety features include GPS tracking and a speed limit warning buzzer.
