The automaker partnered with Don Bosco Makati and DepEd for this program.

Hyundai Motor Philippines, Inc. (HMPH) announced the “Hyundai Accelerate”, an educational program aimed to create opportunities for disadvantaged youth who want to get into the automotive industry.

Hyundai rolls out the Hyundai Accelerate program

The program is made possible with partners Don Bosco Technical Institute Makati (DBIM) and the Department of Education Taguig City and Pateros (DepED TAPAT) school division. It was made official via a signing ceremony last June 27, 2023.

“At Hyundai Motor, we have a strong commitment to give back to society. This is rooted from our brand vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’ wherein we believe that mobility is more than going from one place to another, rather connecting people with quality time and enabling them to get more out of life, which led us to forming ‘Hyundai Accelerate’”, said HMPH President Mr. Dongwook Lee.

The Don Bosco Technical Institute Makati has curriculums for elementary, junior high school, senior high school, and technical vocational education and training (TVET). The latter offer specialized courses that prepare graduates for a career as an automobile mechanic, general electrician, fitter machinist, refrigeration, and air conditioning mechanic, or industrial electronics.

The program aims to create opportunities for disadvantaged youth

This makes Don Bosco Technical Institute Makati the ideal partner for the Korean automaker’s “Hyundai Accelerate.” HMPH will be enrolling 40 qualified individuals from the National Capital Region (NCR) – 10 will be nominated by DepEd TAPAT, 15 will be endorsed by the local government unit of Pasig, and 15 will be endorsed by the LGU of Quezon.

“It is our grassroots scholarship program dedicated to providing Filipino senior high school graduates an opportunity for further studies. This project is a special one, as it not only cultivates teaching moments, but more importantly, uplifts the lives of future mentees,” added Lee.

Hyundai continues to give back to the community

The “Hyundai Accelerate” is just one of HMPH’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts. Last 2022, the company ended the year with the Inspire 2.0 campaign aimed to introduce college students under their scholarship program to different professions.
