Electrification is upon us.

Hyundai Motor Philippines, Inc. (HMPH), the new distributor of Hyundai in the country, made its presence known to Filipinos when it introduced a reworked 4-car lineup last month. Now, the Korean automaker is making a louder noise with the preview of the Ioniq 5 at the 8th Philippine International Auto Show (PIMS).

Hyundai Ioniq 5

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a fully electric compact crossover that has already bagged several accolades since its introduction in March 2021. One of the most significant recognitions of the Ioniq 5 is winning the 2022 World Car of the Year. This should make the model more interesting once HMPH officially launches the Ioniq 5 in the Philippines in January 2023.

Moreover, the Ioniq 5 conforms to the returning auto show’s “Mobility + Humanity: Innovation for the Common Good” tagline thanks to its all-electric powertrain. Upon the induction of the Hyundai EV into the local lineup, it will join the Staria, Creta, Santa Fe, and Tucson. The company has yet to reveal the specs of the PH-spec model.

“Our vision is ‘Progress is Humanity’ because we are dedicated to understanding what people want in life. For us, it’s not about going from A to B, it’s about creating time for the moments that truly matter. This is what we hope for our Filipino customers to experience when they own a Hyundai,” said HMPI President Dongwook Lee.

“We are excited to hit the ground running and give Filipinos access to our award-winning smart technologies, advanced safety, and driver-assist systems, and of course, our new ‘sensuous sportiness’ design philosophy in our range of passenger cars,” added Lee.

It sports a retrofuturistic design

The Hyundai Ioniq 5’s platform stablemate, the Kia EV6, has also made an appearance at this year’s PIMS being held at the World Trade Center. Both Korean EVs will help expand the benefits of non-internal combustion engine (ICE) cars including eco-friendly advantages and cost-effective ownership.
