This EV can charge, and be charged on the fly anywhere

Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) has attended the 10th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS). Their booth highlighting the Ioniq 5 has been present at the event venue at the SMX Convention Center until the event’s conclusion on October 21, 2022.

But besides highlighting the Hyundai Ioniq 5’s attractive design and other desirable qualities as a car, Hyundai also used the said EV’s energy storage to power a makeshift café. One that is open to the public and serving a variety of delicious hot and cold drinks.

Now, powering a café, even this temporary one at the PEVS, is no joke. This is because the said café has been using several appliances to serve booth visitors. They have a coffee machine and a microwave oven, among other tools.

However, this task was accomplished by the Hyundai EV with no issues thanks to its Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, enabling it to serve as a 3.6 kW power supply. This feature was also used when the Ioniq 5 EV powered Hyundai's pop-up hotel.

Besides having V2L, the stylish Ioniq 5 also has a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capability. This allows it to recharge another EV that’s been stranded on the road because of the battery running down. In other words, the Ioniq 5 can be used as a mobile charger or “roving service” to other compatible EVs.

Plus, there’s the fact that the Ioniq 5 can gain up to 44 kilometers of range in just only 15 minutes of charging, eliminating the annoyance of having to wait for it to charge.

This, of course, may provide extra peace of mind for Hyundai's future EV passengers as the brand will undoubtedly set up an on-demand mobile emergency charging service in the future.

Are you the ones who are excited to see what the Ioniq 5 is capable of? Are you itching to drive one, or even just see one on local roads? If you are, then be aware that HMPH has confirmed that it is set to launch for the local market next year.
