The season-winning Hyundai Elantra N TCR joined the fun.

Hyundai Motor Company is celebrating its double victories at the Driver’s and Team championships of the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) 2022.

Hyundai is victorious at the recent WTCR season

To celebrate the huge achievement, the company is hosting a special exhibition and employee events at its headquarters through February 10, 2023. Joining the fun are 2022 WTCR Driver’s Champion Mikel Azcona, the WTCR-winning Elantra N TCR car, and the road-going Elantra N, also known as the Avante N.

“We have planned a series of events to share the Hyundai Motorsport’s achievements with all employees,” said Hyundai Motor Company Vice President of N Brand Management and Motorsport sub-division, Till Wartenberg.

A fan meet is hosted

In conformity with the WTCR’s technical regulations, the Hyundai Elantra N TCR is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. It makes 350 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, sending power to the front wheels. A 6-speed sequential gearbox is fitted and controlled using paddle shifters.

Like all cars racing at WTCR, the Elantra N TCR is based on a road-going counterpart which, in this case, is the Elantra N. The Hyundai Elantra is a compact sedan that should sound familiar as it was once offered by Hyundai in the Philippines.

Currently, the racing series has been halted following a challenging 2022 season. The sport’s governing body is evaluating possible changes in the future. For now, Hyundai gets the last laugh for finishing the recent season with double victories.

Motorsport is in Hyundai's DNA

The celebration is running racing games for employees that utilize the N Simulator. It is also hosting a fan meet with WTCR 2022 Champion Azcona, as well as with previous winners. During the meeting, the company presented its motorsports achievements in 2022 and plans for this year.

“We want these events to spark passion and share winning spirit and pride of Hyundai’s Motorsport’s activities and the N brand. Hyundai Motor Company will continue to compete [in] global motorsport with high-performance DNA of N brand,” added Wartenberg.
