Capable of crash avoidance and reducing driver fatigue.

Honda has a mission of reducing car accidents involving its car models down to zero by 2050. This is evident from the local lineup of vehicles, the majority of which are equipped with the Honda Sensing driver-assistive suite of technologies.

The Honda models equipped with Honda Sensing

The current list of Honda cars in the Philippines that come with Honda Sensing includes the all-new Honda BR-V, Civic, CR-V (S and SX variants), and the all-new HR-V.

By being kitted out with Honda Sensing, these cars can increase the driver’s awareness of the road. Plus, it can also help one avoid a collision, reduce the severity of an accident, and even help alleviate driver fatigue.

These capabilities in cars might be of particular importance during the Christmas season. That’s because traffic is said to become heavier at this time, plus most will be traveling with family members to go shopping, or to go on out-of-town trips.

So how does the Honda Sensing keep one safe? Let’s go over its components one by one.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Honda’s adaptive cruise control is a powerful traveling tool that can automatically brake and slow down or accelerate the car. This depends on how far away or how near the Honda vehicle is to the car it is following.

The all-new BR-V is the latest Honda PH car that comes with Honda Sensing

With its low-speed follow function, it is also designed to be usable in slow traffic situations. This thus aids in reducing driver fatigue, making drives more comfortable.

Lead Car Departure Warning

Making city driving even more convenient is Honda’s lead car departure warning that’s currently available on the Civic, HR-V, and BR-V. It alerts the driver whenever the car up front has moved, thus making the driver more aware of the right time to move forward as well.

Lane Keeping and Lane Departure Warning

Also included in the Honda Sensing suite is the ability to keep the car inside a lane via its lane-keep assist system. It does this automatically but gently by steering itself to stay in the center of a lane.

This also helps in reducing driver fatigue, since giving minute inputs just to keep a car center on the highway can be tiring for long periods of time.

Honda cars equipped with Honda sensing are also capable of warning the driver if the car is veering away from a lane.

This safety suite is standard on the Civic variant lineup

Road Departure Mitigation

But if the car senses that one is traveling in such a way that it's leaving the road, then it is also capable of avoiding an accident by steering back into the said road. This helps in avoiding collisions with objects situated on the side of a thoroughfare. Parked cars and other objects on the side of the road after all are all too common in the Philippines.

Collision Mitigation Braking System

Speaking of collisions, the listed Honda models are likewise capable of avoiding frontal crashes. This is thanks to its collision mitigation braking system. Specifically, this technology can apply the brakes autonomously when the car detects that the car is about to crash or reduce the damage caused by a crash.

Simultaneously working with the autonomous braking is an audible warning whenever a possible frontal collision is detected.

These make for a safer driving experience, and it can even detect slow-speed potential fender benders in slow to moderate traffic as well.

It is also present on both the V Turbo and S variants of the HR-V

Auto High-Beam

Last but not least is Honda’s auto high-beam system. This tool automatically lowers the high beam setting of a Honda vehicle’s headlights whenever it detects upcoming vehicles. This eliminates the need to manually toggle the high beams, which again contributes to more driver convenience. Plus, it's polite not to blind fellow road users with your LEDs, right?

Those are the components and capabilities of the Honda Sensing Suite in a nutshell. Paired with the usual standard safety features, they can make for a certifiably safe ride, especially during the holiday traffic rush.
