Do you think the City Hatch is a worthy successor of the Jazz?

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), the official business unit of Honda in the country, confirmed that the reason for discontinuing the Jazz is to make room in the market for the new 2021 City Hatchback. Determining whether removing the Jazz is the right move is subjective so let’s see what are the differences between the two hatchbacks so it could help you could make up your mind.

2021 Honda City Hatchback Quick Look: A worthy Jazz replacement?

The Honda City Hatchback RS comes with a measurement that spans 4,349 mm in length, 1,748 mm in width, and 1,488 in height, with a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. This means that the City Hatch is 315mm longer (70mm longer in terms of the wheelbase) and 54 mm wider than the Jazz RS. The numbers translate that the 2021 Honda City Hatchback has a roomier cabin and more cargo space.

In terms of exterior design, the Honda City Hatchback RS and Jazz RS almost share the same variant-exclusive features. Both hatchbacks come with LED headlights, RS design front and rear bumper, RS spoiler or wing, RS front grille, 16-inch alloy wheels, and more.

The City Hatchback gets the upper hand when it comes to the interior as it is upholstered with leather and suede. There are also red trims in the cabin of the new hatchback which provides a less bland and sportier appeal as compared to the Jazz that comes with orange stitching.

A larger 8-inch infotainment screen is integrated into the City hatchback, while the Jazz is installed with a 7-inch infotainment screen. The said system is also backed by two USB ports and eight speakers.

As for safety, the Honda City Hatchback is equipped with almost the same features as the previous hatchback entry. These safety features still include a multi-view rear camera, airbags for driver, front passenger, side and side curtain, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), vehicle stability assist (VSA), hill start assist (HSA), emergency stop signal (ESS), and more.

This or the Jazz?

Overall, the Honda City Hatchback comes with more features and offers more space than the Honda Jazz. Those points are probably what HCPI is banking on as to why it decided to offer the City Hatch rather than the Jazz. It seems that HCPI wanted to offer a vehicle that offers more practicality and versatility.

The 2021 Honda City Hatchback RS is available at Php 1,115,000. Due to the safeguard duty that adds Php 70,000 to imported vehicles, HCPI decided to implement a deposit amount of Php 13,000 to reduce the burden on its customers.
