It is an open secret by now that Geely Philippines will enter the subcompact sedan market with the Emgrand. Not a lot of details have been revealed for the PH-spec Emgrand so far, but the company is now inviting everyone to catch the upcoming model’s local debut happening this month.
Geely's sedan challenger is coming
With the hashtag #BeDriven, Geely Philippines is hinting that the Emgrand will come with impressive tech features that aim to level up Filipino mobility. This can be a key factor for the model to find its place in the market as many of its subcompact sedan rivals tend to prioritize affordability through cost-cutting measures.
In the latest teaser, the cabin is equipped with a fully-digital instrument gauge cluster which is used for displaying information such as speed, tire pressure, and engine RPM. It can also be seen with a large floating-type infotainment screen, engine start-stop button, and modern-looking dashboard layout.

As said earlier, the Chinese marque remains mum regarding the things we can expect for the new sedan including its powertrain. But looking at the Chinese-spec version, the model could use a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that makes 113 horsepower and 147 Nm of torque. Either a 5-speed manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT) is connected to the engine.
Geely Philippines will formally reveal the PH-spec Emgrand on February 25, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. via an online launch. This way, interested individuals can have a first look at the new sedan in the comfort of their homes. The virtual launch will be live on Geely Philippines’ official Facebook page.
Now on its fourth-gen
Upon introduction, the Geely Emgrand will go up against car models in the subcompact sedan segment including the Toyota Vios, Honda City, MG 5, Nissan Almera, among others. It will also join the existing local lineup of Geely which consists of the Coolray, Azkarra, and Okavango.
