Legado Motors, Inc., the official distributor of GAC vehicles in the country, is looking to defend its throne at the 2021 Kalayaan Cup 12-hr Endurance Challenge. The event will be held at the Clark International Speedway on June 12 and 13.

In 2019, GAC Motor Philippines managed to bag four endurance championships, namely the 2019 Kalayaan 4-hour Endurance Championship (Manufacturer’s Class), 2019 Kalayaan 12-hour Endurance Championship (Manufacturer’s Class), 2019 Bonifacio Cup 4-hour Endurance Championship (Manufacturer’s Class), and the 2019 Bonifacio Cup 4-hour Endurance Championship (Open Category).
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, organizers of the endurance race series decided to cancel last year’s event as a way of complying with public health and safety protocols. Now that the 2021 Kayalaan Cup 12-hr Endurance Challenge has been greenlit, GAC Motor Philippines is looking forward to showcase the performance capabilities of its GAC GA4.

The GA4 is the car brand’s entry to the local compact sedan segment. Powering the vehicle is a 1.5-liter inline-4 DCVVT Euro 5-compliant engine that can generate 113 hp and 136 Nm of torque. It is equipped with an L-type McPherson front suspension that improves ride comfort and handling.
Joining the GAC Motor Race Team for this year’s event are 2019 Philippine Autocross Champion Series overall champion Kody Ng, multi-awarded racecar driver Milo Rivera, and Patrick Mendoza. The three racers will take turns in completing the endurance challenge.

Unfortunately, the 2021 Kayalaan Cup will not accommodate spectators at the Clark International Speedway just yet due to physical distancing protocols. Interested individuals may instead watch the endurance race virtually via the Makabayan Cup Endurance Race Challenge Series Facebook fan page.
“Joining motorsports events such as the endurance challenge will play a key role in boosting the presence of GAC Motor and building brand confidence in the Philippines. It will also enable us to showcase the performance and reliability of the brand’s vehicle line-up, especially the GA4,” said GAC Motor Metrowalk Branch Head Brennan Lim.
