Apart from the F1 program, Ford appears to be making road-going EVs with Red Bull.

Ford’s partnership with Oracle Red Bull Racing (RBR) appears to extend outside the track as the Blue Oval company is reportedly developing an electric vehicle (EV) model with the Formula One (F1) team.

It seems like Ford and Red Bull are creating an EV

In an interview with MotorTrend, Ford Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jim Farley mentioned that the automaker is already working on a “strategically important EV.” Here is how the Ford chief responded to a question about the brand’s interest in F1 stemming in part from the series’ new engine regulations:

“I was in a recent review with probably our most strategically important EV, and I turned to my skunkworks team that are developing this in secret, and I asked, ‘Hey, who’s doing the aero on this?’ And he turns to me and says, ‘Oh, they’re from Red Bull. Formula One.”

Farley didn’t mention the details of the EV model. It could be an active model in the American automaker’s lineup that will be transformed into an all-electric vehicle. We cannot also ignore the idea that the mystery car will be an all-new electric car that provides a glimpse of future Ford EVs.

The partnership between Ford and Red Bull is looking fruitful

With the data Ford will gather in partnership with RBR, it won’t come as no surprise if the “strategically important EV” will host a high-performance electrified powertrain. After all, Red Bull has also participated in the development of hybrid supercars such as the Aston Martin Valkyrie and the Aston Martin Valhalla.

What we do for now is that Ford will be supplying next-gen hybrid power units to RBR and its junior team, Scuderia AlphaTauri, starting in 2026. The new engines will be developed with even more electrified technologies as part of the sport’s commitment to hit net zero carbon by 2030.

Upon the unveiling of this new EV model, it will join the automaker’s all-electric portfolio consisting of the Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, and E-Transit.
