In today’s time, hate speeches such as homophobic remarks are getting addressed more than ever. Whether it be through protests or social media where netizens come together to enlighten more people on certain issues. With this, everyone can get a form of understanding as to what diversity is and learn how to respect it.
Very Gay Ford Ranger Raptor with Ford Ka
Ford is one of the organizations that stands firmly in dealing with homophobic comments. Recently, it introduced the ‘Very Gay’ Ranger Raptor as an answer to a discriminatory comment on social media. A user said that the pickup truck’s popular body color, Performance Blue, looks “very gay.”
The ‘Very Gay’ Ranger Raptor is painted in gold dust and rainbow colors seen in the pride flag of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) community. According to the Blue Oval company, the pickup truck was wrapped by Alphafoil to enhance its appearance. The process took 60 hours and 30 square meters of film.

Moreover, the ‘Very Gay’ Ranger Raptor was Ford Germany’s entry to this year’s Christopher Street Day (CSD) in Cologne. It is one of the many ways the automaker shows its support for the annual LGBT celebration. The off-road truck was driven in Cologne city center during the Cologne Pride 2021 held last August 26 to August 28.
However, the ‘Very Gay’ Ranger Raptor is not the first Ford model that was reworked to support the LGBT community. In 1998, the Blue Oval company converted the small Ford Ka into a pickup truck with rainbow colors on the exterior. It is considered as one of the first initiatives the automaker did to show its commitment to overcoming homophobic remarks.
Ford continues to be one with the LGBT community
The Ford employee network GLOBE (Gay, Lesbian, or Bisexual Employees) also celebrated its 25th anniversary this year. It was established in 1996 to support its LGBT employees, as well as implement the Ford “Diversity” corporate philosophy within its working premises.
