Extra ‘bad-ass’ pick-up truck.

Last month, Ford introduced the Ranger Raptor X in Australia and Malaysia featuring unique decals that add character to the pickup truck. Now, Ford Europe is also launching its own version of the Ranger Raptor X, and prefers to call it by a simpler moniker.

The Good, The Bad + The Badass

The new Ford Ranger Raptor Special Edtion in Europe was presented by the Blue Oval company through the “The Good, The Bad, and the Bad-RSE” teaser with an extra ‘bad-ass’ characteristic to depict that it is an aggressive pick-up truck that can take on any challenges on the road.

Developed by Ford Performance, the Ranger Raptor Special Edition features visual enhancements inside and out. The limited-edition model will go on sale in Europe from October this year alongside the other Ranger variants such as the Wolftrak and Stormtrak. Ford Europe is also offering the rally-inspired Ranger MS-RT.

The Ford Ranger Raptor Special Edition

To set the Special Edition of the Ranger Raptor apart from the other Ranger models, Ford Europe added variant-exclusive twin matte black racing stripes that are edged with contrast lines. This finishing touch can be seen on the hood, roof, lower body sides, rear wings, and rear-end, providing a performance-oriented look to the limited-edition model.

More to the exterior features are the matte black finish on the special edition model’s wheel arches, front and rear bumpers, door handles, and grille. The front tow hooks are also finished in red to seamlessly blend with the variant-exclusive racing stripes.

An unmistakable off-roader look

The said exterior details are pretty much the same as those in the Raptor X in Australia. However, you will notice that a slight difference as the Euro-spec Ranger Raptor Special Edition has a neater-looking sports bar as compared to the Raptor X’s that runs across the length of the bed.

Moving inside, there are red accents seen on the leather seats while the steering wheel is upholstered with red stitching. Ford also installed a Special Edition-only Raceway Grey instrument panel to not only display distinctiveness but also provide a more innovative driving experience.

The red trims are incorporated inside as well

Both the special editions of the Raptor are still powered by the same 2.0-liter EcoBlue Bi-turbo diesel engine that can generate 210 hp and 500 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. For better off-road performance, the truck comes with a Baja Mode which optimizes the truck’s traction, throttle response, and shifting speed.

Other performance features the Raptor Special Edition possesses include aluminum double wishbones at the front and a multi-link rear architecture, Fox shock absorbers with Position Sensitive Damping, and General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tires which are all designed to enhance the model’s off-road capabilities.

It will go on sale in Europe this October

“The new Ranger Raptor Special Edition adds even more dramatic style to our ‘bad-ass’ truck, with unique exterior touches and cabin enhancements that make our off-road performance pick-up even more distinctive and desirable,” said Ford Europe Performance Manager Stefan Muenzinger.
