The current Ford Ranger has been riding on the T6 platform for a decade now, and questions are flying as to when the Blue Oval brand’s midsize pickup will finally get to move on to a newer chassis.
Ford Philippines is giving customers a glimpse of the new Ranger for 2022
Don’t look now, but that day might just be lying over the proverbial horizon. Ford Philippines has released a teaser video of the next-generation Ranger on its YouTube channel, slated for a 2022 release following an end-2021 reveal in the market. The clip, which runs at almost 1 minute and 20 seconds, shows a camouflaged Ranger undergoing testing in the field.
The unit can be seen as it is subjected to a variety of terrain such as mud, dirt, rock, and snow. Australian plates are evident on the vehicle, as the Ranger has been designed and engineered in that country. This also gives ample opportunity for Ford to test the truck in some of the harshest driving conditions imaginable.
One detail that stands out are the DRLs that resemble those on the current F-150
While the disguise makes it difficult to see specific exterior details, the new rig is said to take plenty of design cues from the current-generation F-150, especially the fang-shaped DRLs. That alone should narrow down the choices as to what customers can expect on the 2022 Ranger.
As if appearances aren’t enough to fuel the brewing excitement among truck fans, Ford Philippines promises the new Ranger will be ”the smartest, most capable, and most versatile” iteration yet. The carmaker claims that 2022 model will be the last word in pickups that are suited for work, family, and play, boasting superior off-road capabilities and Ford’s dynamic driving DNA.
Will a new king of the midsize pickup hill be crowned?
Following reports of the new F-150’s impending arrival to the local market, Ford customers now have another treat to look forward to. We’ll have more updates as soon as Ford Philippines releases more information on the upcoming 2022 Ford Ranger.
