We previously reported that Suzuki Philippines will be introducing updated versions of its two hatchbacks this year, namely the Swift and Celerio. Now, the first to officially join the local lineup is the facelifted Swift, coming with upgrades that the carmaker says “continuously satisfy the need of customers for something new.”
2022 Suzuki Swift
Exterior-wise, the new 2022 Suzuki Swift gets a new front grille with a chrome garnish that mediates the brand logo and plate number. With the integration of studded net patterns, the front fascia of the Japanese subcompact hatchback provides a more modern and sportier finish.
The PH-spec facelifted version now looks more in line with the global model, save for the two-tone options that are not available locally. Nevertheless, the refreshed hatchback arrives with four bright single-tone options including the Ablaze Red Pearl, Blue Metallic, Pure White Pearl, and Mineral Gray Metallic.
It gets a larger infotainment screen that displays the rear camera view
Inside, a new 8-inch infotainment screen is installed, replacing the outgoing model’s 7-inch head unit. It is equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so passengers can stay connected on the go. Additionally, drivers get to benefit from the new rear camera and rear parking sensors for easier parking in tight spaces.
Suzuki Philippines is offering the 2022 Swift GL with a price tag of Php 844,000. The 5-speed manual transmission has been discontinued from the range, making the continuously variable transmission (CVT) the sole transmission available.
“The Swift is one of our products designed to be an everyday companion and a sure standout on the road,” said Suzuki Philippines Vice President and General Manager for Automobile Mr. Keiichi Suzuki. “As standards rise, so should the level of our products and services. We are excited to release this improved version of the lovable Swift.”
The hatchback got more modern and sportier
As for the Swift’s smaller hatchback sibling, the Celerio, spy shots of the next-gen version confirm that it has arrived on our shores. Suzuki Philippines remains mum regarding the details of the upcoming PH-spec 2022 Celerio.
