The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is proud to announce that it worked on over 1,000 km of roads since July this year.
DPWH says it worked on over 1,000 km of roads since July
From July to November 2022, the DPWH constructed, maintained, and rehabilitated 1,105 km of roads. It covers various infrastructure projects all over the country that aim to provide high-quality and more efficient roads to the Filipino motoring public.
To be more specific, the major infrastructure projects include the Samar-Pacific Road, Cavite-Laguna Expressway, Central Luzon Link Expressway, Cagayan de Oro River Flood Management project, and the Mindanao Growth Corridor Road Sector project.
The North Luzon Expressway-South Luzon Expressway (NLEX-SLEX) Connector Road is also part of the major infrastructure projects. This expressway will play an important role in managing traffic in the metro as it is expected to accommodate 35,000 motorists daily upon completion.
According to the agency, the NLEX-SLEX Connector Road aims to reduce the travel time between the NLEX and SLEX to just 20 minutes. Class 3 vehicles (large trucks) will also be allowed to use the expressway, which should stimulate economic development.
The agency aims to improve the roads in the country
Meanwhile, the DPWH has a list of road development projects that include conflicted-affected areas in Mindanao, the Laguna-Lakeshore Road Network, Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge, Panguil Bay Bridge, Samal Island-Davao City Bridge, and the Davao City Bypass Construction project.
Apart from road infrastructures, the DPWH has also been busy upgrading bridges, flood control structures, and school buildings. So much so that the agency rehabilitated 2,575 school buildings for use by public school students.
The DPWH has also played an active role in disaster response. In a report to Malacañang, the agency deployed more than 7,000 personnel as part of government response efforts in several disaster areas as a result of earthquakes and typhoons that hit the country this year.
Other major projects that DPWH took part in include improving the Daang Maharlika, the Rural Roads Convergence Program, supporting the government's Agri-infrastructure Support Program, and projects involving flood management, water management, and basic social infrastructure support.
