Work progress for the NLEX Connector España section is steady

The said section utilizes steel box girders for its highly elevated areas, and it will feature on and off ramps as well as toll plazas along the C3 Road and España Boulevard. The box girders are precast and prestressed Super T girders are commonly in use in Australia and New Zealand.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has also achieved 91 percent completion for the right-of-way for the España section. The agency managed to complete 83 percent right-of-way for the Santa Mesa section as well.

The España Section is part of the larger 8-kilometer-long NLEX Connector project. Once completed in its entirety, this thoroughfare will allow for more seamless travel for those heading from north to south of Luzon and vice versa. Travel times between the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Parañaque and the Clark International Airport will be improved as well.

It will also improve the delivery times of cargo and other goods, the result of which will contribute to strengthening the nation’s economy. Development in the surrounding provinces will also likely see more stimulation thanks to the NLEX Connector.

Once complete, the NLEX Connector can accomodate up to 35,000 motorists per day

The said project is spearheaded by a partnership between the NLEX Corporation and the DPWH and it has a budget of Php 23.2 billion.

It will also be able to accommodate up to 35,000 motorists every day. In total, the said road will have three interchanges. There will be one at R. Magsaysay Boulevard in Manila, one at the C3 Road/5th Avenue in Caloocan City, and one at España Boulevard.

NLEX Corporation previously said that the NLEX Connector’s España section is targeted to be finished this year. The company added that it is also on track to meet the NLEX Connector project’s 2023 deadline.
