That’s quite an impressive figure for a crossover.

With fuel prices still quite high, fuel efficiency has become an essential trait for cars these days. Chevrolet Philippines is introducing the Tracker as a vehicle that can offer just that, backed by a fuel test run conducted in partnership with the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP).

Chevrolet Tracker

The AAP reports that the Chevrolet Tracker managed to register an impressive 25.05 km/l. It was recorded during a fuel economy test run with a total distance of 263.3 kilometers from Clark to TPLEX (Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway) Rosario exit, and back.

“Chevrolet Philippines is proud to offer Chevrolet vehicles that live up to the brand’s established reliability and its commitment [to] providing mobility that fulfills the current demands of the market,” said Chevrolet Philippines – The Covenant Car Company Inc. (TCCCI) President and CEO Atty. Albert B. Arcilla.

One fuel-efficient small crossover

Having made its Philippine debut in July 2021, the Chevrolet Tracker is the brand’s entry into the subcompact crossover market. The impressive fuel efficiency figure was delivered by a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder Ecotec gasoline engine capable of generating 116 horsepower and 175 of torque.

A 6-speed automatic transmission with manual mode sends power from the engine to the front wheels. Although not probably used during the test run, the Tracker is equipped with an intelligent engine start/stop system which can help improve the vehicle’s fuel efficiency in city driving.

Chevrolet Trailblazer

Furthermore, Chevrolet Philippines also enlisted the Trailblazer for an AAP fuel eco run. The compact crossover returned 20.87 km/l with its 1.3-liter GM E-Turbo engine. Both Chevy models were driven under the following parameters to stimulate realistic driving conditions as per the AAP’s criteria:

  • Total of two passengers per vehicle with no heavy luggage
  • Tires were set according to the factory-recommended tire pressure
  • Vehicle speed maintained at 80 to 90 km/h

“We are glad to offer fuel-efficient products in the Chevrolet lineup with the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer and Tracker, These globally recognized SUVs have attained exemplary results from the recent AAP fuel economy run. This further underscores our message that the Tracker and Trailblazer are smart choices in the crossover and compact SUV segments,” added Atty. Arcilla.
