Previously, Department of Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar presented the progress of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) Silang East Interchange through a drone video. It displays the completed expressway works in the Southern part of Metro Manila.

Not even a month after, the CALAX Silang East Interchange, also known as Subsection 5, was officially opened to the public. It offers an expressway route from Mamplasan in Biñan, Laguna up to Tibig Road in Silang East, Cavite.
With its opening, motorists going from South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) to Silang via the said expressway can expect a 10 to 15 minute travel time.
CALAX Silang East Interchange
A total of 5,000 motorists is expected to be served daily along the Silang East Interchange’s 7.2-km road network. Moreover, the CALAX Subsection 5 will now help ease up traffic situations in Governor’s Drive, Aguinaldo Highway, and Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay Road.
The toll rates for the CALAX Subsection 5 are in. Toll rates for Class 1 vehicles range from Php 14 to Php 64. Meanwhile, Class 2 vehicles have to pay a toll rate that ranges from Php 29 to Php 128. Lastly, Class 3 vehicles are required to provide Php 43 to Php 192 to traverse the toll road

Now that the Silang East Interchange is opened, this now shifts the attention to the CALAX Subsection 4 which is expected to be completed by 2022. It is a 2.8-km expressway that will connect Aguinaldo Highway to the recently-opened Silang East Interchange.
Overall, the 45-km CALAX Project is expected to cut travel time between Cavite and Laguna from two hours to just one. It is targeted to be opened to the public by early 2023.
The P56-billion massive road project will be providing nine interchanges situated in Kawit, Governor's Drive, Silang (Aguinaldo) Highway, Silang East, Open Canal, Santa Rosa-Tagaytay, Laguna Boulevard, and Technopark.
