CALAX drone video shows progress at Silang East Interchange

Department of Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar showed the progress of the Silang East Interchange via a drone video posted on its official YouTube channel. The footage is added with a musical score so viewers can take a look around the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) Subsection 5 in a cinematic fashion.

The Subsection 5 is a 7.2-km expressway that will connect Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road to Silang, Cavite. It was completed ahead of the initial completion date which was sometime in the third quarter of this year. However, the government agency hasn’t fully disclosed when it will open the Subsection 5 to the motoring public.

Once it is opened, the road seen in the drone video is expected to accommodate 5,000 vehicles daily, decongesting traffic along Governor’s Drive, Aguinaldo Highway, and Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay Road. It is also expected to shorten SLEX to Silang travel time from 10 to 15 minutes.

This new expressway can ease up the traffic congestions on the roads and highway mentioned above that usually occurs during rush hour. In addition, it can provide an alternate route for those motorists who are going in and out of one of the most famous travel spots in the country, Tagaytay City. It should also improve local businesses in the said areas.

The Silang East Interchange is part of the larger CALAX project that has a total length of 44.63 km. It will provide interchanges in eight locations, namely in Kawit, Open Canal Service Road, Governor’s Drive, Silang East, Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay, Laguna Boulevard, Technopark, and Biñan, Laguna Toll Barrier.

It should serve 5,000 motorists daily

Cinematic drone videos showcasing DPWH projects seem to be a new initiative that the government agency might regularly conduct moving forward. Recently, it rolled out a drone video of the ongoing construction of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) that will connect Cebu City and Cordova Town in Mactan Island upon completion.
