Aston Martin announces its entry to the 24 Hours of Le Mans Hyperclass category starting in the 2025 World Endurance Championship (WEC) season. The British luxury automaker will be joining the WEC grid with its most extreme model in the current road-going lineup, the Valkyrie.

The automaker will take the fight to new and returning brands such as BMW, Lamborghini, and Ferrari, with the Prancing Horse winning the latest edition of the French enduro race. The Valkyrie racecar will also be challenged by Toyota, which has been the team to beat since 2018. Making the possible entry is Heart of Racing (HoR), a racing team that raises money for charity.
“It’s a privilege to be able to bring Aston Martin back to the top of endurance racing with the Heart of Racing,” Heart of Racing Team Principal Ian James.
Aston Martin will also participate at North America’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championships in the same year. This means the brand would be able to expand its presence globally together with its participation in Formula 1 – which will be using Honda power units starting in 2026.

The Valkyrie racecar will be racing with a modified Cosworth 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine capable of revving up to 11,000 rpm and producing 986 hp. Of course, the power unit will tweaked to conform to the Balance of Performance (BOP). It is slated to become the first purebred hypercar to participate in both endurance racing series.
“Performance is the lifeblood of everything that we do at Aston Martin, and motorsport is the ultimate expression of this pursuit of excellence,” said Lawrence Stroll Aston Martin Lagonda Executive Chairman.

Aside from the Hyperclass category, Aston Martin also looks to join the LMGT3 starting next year. It is a new class that replaces the outgoing GTE class in WEC. The team will be running with an all-new racecar based on the Vantage platform.
