Ford sold nearly 2,000 Territory units within five months

Ford Philippines sprung some major surprises last year, with new model releases for the market despite the pandemic. By the close of 2020, it’s already beginning to reap the rewards stemming from its bold move.

Robust sales of its Territory crossover and Ranger pickup series reinforced Ford’s standing in their respective categories. After the departure of the Escape left a gap in Ford’s local compact crossover offering, the carmaker re-entered the segment with the Territory, aimed at young professionals and starter families.

The Territory’s combination of contemporary styling, performance, and numerous tech features led it to achieve full-year sales of 1,925 units, translating to a 33 percent market share within five months of its August launch. The Ford Territory price Philippines is quite reasonable, making it a suitable choice for many customers. 

A 10-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, and the autonomous emergency braking are just some of the available equipment aboard the Territory, powered by a 1.5L EcoBoost engine.

The Territory crossover was favorably received by customers

Meanwhile, sales of the Ranger pickup’s 4x4 variants reached 5,093 units, accounting for 52 percent of a total 9,767 Rangers leaving showrooms in 2020. This is equivalent to a 24-percent market share, placing the Ranger among the best-selling pickups of 2020.

Ford launched the new Ranger FX4’s 4x4 variant in the local market last year, joining the XLS and Wildtrak as options for customers looking for a capable pickup that they can use as both a workhorse and lifestyle vehicle that can take on a range of terrains.

Other models that have contributed to the expansion of the Ford Philippines domestic lineup include the Trend and Sport variants of the Everest midsize SUV, as well as the F-150 full-size pickup.

Buoyed by an uptick in consumer demand for vehicles, Ford posted fourth quarter sales of 5,411 units or an increase of 36 percent from the previous quarter. December sales outperformed the November quota by 30 percent, leading Ford to achieve full-year retail figures of 14,775 vehicles sold.
