After 14 long years of competing in the market, the third-generation Lexus LX is confirmed to have an all-new model. Well, this next-gen version of the full-size luxury SUV has been expected to arrive considering that its Toyota counterpart, the new Land Cruiser 300, made its debut last June 2021.
All-new Lexus LX teaser video
Japanese automaker Lexus has taken every measure to keep the all-new LX hidden from prying eyes. It only shared a 15-second teaser video of the next-gen luxury SUV which mainly shows its new rear-end design. The design of the taillights is similar to the one in the outgoing model, but now comes with a full-width taillight, a feature that can be seen on other new Lexus models such as the UX crossover.
Also, the Lexus logo on the rear end is replaced with a new “LEXUS” emblem instead. This emblem has a similar font to the trim level called LX 600 which is embedded on the lower right part of the tailgate. Looking at the teaser photo, the one shown is assumed to be the new trim level of the Japanese luxury SUV.
Rear end of the all-new Lexus LX
Following Lexus’ pattern in naming the LX’s trim levels, the LX 600 could come with a new 6.0-liter engine. To name some, the LX 470 had a 4.7-liter V8 engine, while the LX 570 gets a 5.7-liter V8 engine. However, one can expect that the all-new model will break the lineage as it will likely use the smaller V6 engines found on the new Land Cruiser 300.
The next-gen version will likely use the Toyota New Global Architecture Body-of-Frame (TNGA-F) just like the Land Cruiser 300. This means that the new SUV should be lighter by around 200 kg than the outgoing model. Also, an F-Sport trim is expected to be offered soon considering that the Toyota Land Cruiser gets its GR Sport treatment.
