Lexus has released yet another teaser image of the all-new GX, showcasing a redesigned exterior with a boxy pattern and contemporary design cues. This comes ahead of its debut which is slated for June 8, 2023.
New Lexus GX teaser photo
As seen in the teaser, its boxy body straightens out the soft-looking surfaces of the outgoing J150 second-generation iteration, perfect for those who wish to own a rugged and off-road-looking SUV. Every exterior bit appears to follow a squared-off theme from the side mirrors to the rear glass.
One of the interesting details in the teaser photo is the wheel fender. The initial teaser photos reveal the blacked-out wheel fenders, while the new one shows body-colored wheel arches that appear glossy. This could mean the next-gen Lexus GX will be available with dedicated variants that favor either luxury or off-roading.
The new SUV is looking tougher than ever
The only other detail shown in the new teaser photo is the full taillight design, which appears to run the width of the rear end. On top of it is the “LEXUS” lettering in what looks like a gloss black bar, adding a premium touch to the finish. In addition to the back, the rear glass should still be capable of opening despite placing the wiper below.
Lexus remains mum regarding the specs of the upcoming GX. But one can expect its use of the TNGA-F platform found in the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series but shortened. It will be slotted just below the Lexus LX in the brand’s luxury full-size SUV lineup.
The all-new GX will come out in less than two weeks
As for the powertrain, the new GX could be made available with a detuned 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 from the LX and a detuned 3.3-liter V6 diesel from the Toyota Land Cruiser.
The Japanese luxury car brand will debut the all-new GX in Austin, Texas. Locally, the Lexus GX nameplate is offered to Filipino car buyers. As such, one can hope Lexus Philippines won’t take long before bringing the boxier-looking SUV to its lineup.
