Lexus TX teaser shows possible three-row crossover model

Japanese luxury car maker Lexus is launching an all-new model soon. It's dubbed the Lexus TX, and it was previewed via a teaser posted on the brand’s various social media pages.

The teaser itself shows the rearmost side section of the upcoming TX. Clearly, the teaser indicates that this upcoming model is a crossover. But other than what was presented, not much information was released by Lexus regarding the TX.  

That said, various automotive news outlets have speculated that this upcoming model might be Lexus’ first-ever three-row crossover model. If you ask us, we would be inclined to agree as the teaser shows that the TX is sporting a huge rear-quarter section.  

 Currently, other three-row models in the Lexus lineup include the big and burly, ladder-frame GX and LX, and the LM luxury MPV.  

Note that the aforementioned models are all based on Toyota-branded vehicles. The GX is based on the Land Cruiser Prado, the LX on the Land Cruiser, and the LM on the Alphard. So this begs the question, which Toyota model is the upcoming TX based on? 

The 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander

As far as the rumors go, the TX might be sharing a platform with the Toyota Grand Highlander. The latter is also a three-row model after all, and it is slated to be sold in the United States. Note likewise that this three-row model uses the Toyota New Global Architecture-K platform.  

If true, the TX might also get the same engine options as the Grand Highlander. The Grand Highlander will be getting three gasoline inline-4 engines for the US market. There’s a 2.4-liter turbo, a 2.4-liter turbo hybrid, and a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated hybrid.  

The most powerful of these is the 2.4-liter turbo hybrid, which is said to be capable of generating up to 362 horsepower.  

As with most speculative articles, do take everything mentioned here with a grain of salt. Better yet, keep it here on Philkotse for more updates on the Lexus TX as the teaser did say that it will be coming “soon.”
