Previously, we have reported about the return of Kia’s 7-seater MPV, the Carens, this December 2021. Not a lot of details have been disclosed by the company just yet. But based on the teaser video, the new model’s exterior will come with a more daring and athletic-looking design that bears the brand’s new logo.
All-new Kia Carens sketch
Fast forward to today, the Korean automaker decided to unveil the official sketches of the new Kia Carens. Looking at the sketches, it seems like the upcoming model is shying away from the MPV family-like finish and goes for an aggressive-looking SUV design.
Kia Corporation shared that the new MPV adopts the brand’s new design philosophy called Opposites United. This concept has already been seen in other Kia models including the all-new Kia Sportage that sports an innovative exterior design. That said, one can say that the all-new Kia Carens will turn heads once it is revealed in the metal.
Undeniably a Kia vehicle
Reflecting Kia’s new design direction, the sketches display a bolder and more daring design that is highlighted by the brand’s signature tiger-nose grille. It is complemented by LED headlamps and sleek daytime running lights (DRLs). If anything, the front end looks like the one in the all-new Kia Niro compact crossover.
The sides don’t seem to show many movements except for the character lines along the front and rear taillights. But this can still change once the actual production model is unveiled to the public. Perhaps the only significant update on the sides is the revamped wheel design that looks like it took inspiration from the outgoing model.
The interior gets a more upscaled design
As for the rear end, no one can deny that it looks similar to the one on the fifth-generation Kia Sportage. From the full-width taillights to the exhaust-like chrome trim design on the rear bumper, the resemblance is glaring. However, the Kia Carens sketches appear to show a narrower rear end as compared to the Sportage.
Kia also gave a glimpse of the interior of its returning MPV. It comes with a high-tech wraparound dashboard design that creates an innovative and premium-like cabin appeal. A 10.25-inch Audi Video Navigation Telematics (AVNT) is integrated into the center console which is said to offer a modern ambiance.
“The Kia Carens perfectly embodies our latest design philosophy, ‘Opposites United’, and it successfully combines sportiness with a sophisticated personality and style with unique aesthetics,” said Kia Design Center Head and Senior Vice President Karim Habib.
All-new model is coming
The all-new Kia Carens is slated to make its world premiere on December 16, 2021. Interested individuals may catch the official unveiling of the new MPV on Kia India’s YouTube channel which will start at 2:30 p.m. PHT.
