Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) is appealing to its clients for “more understanding” regarding the delayed arrival of the all-new HR-V. HCPI apologizes for the late unit deliveries, and stated that the arrival schedule for the five-seater crossover vehicle “remains uncertain.”
HCPI said that the cause of the delayed arrival of the all-new HR-V is due to the global parts shortage, an issue that continues to hamper vehicle production. The parts shortage is not solely an issue that’s been affecting Honda. It has also restrained other car brands, resulting in global production delays that eventually translate to late deliveries.
Last June 2022, Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP) released a similar appeal. TMP has also asked for the public’s understanding due to the delayed deliveries of brand-new units. It has also cited that parts shortage is among the main reasons for the delay.
The global parts shortage has been affecting vehicle production worldwide. Among the contributing factors to the delay is the limited availability of the semiconductor chip. The said chip is responsible for major functions in modern cars such as safety features, power management, touchscreens, digital displays, among others. As most cars are now equipped with modern high-tech features, the semiconductor chip is vital in vehicle production.
The Russia-Ukrain conflict added to the issue surrounding the semiconductor chip. Due to the war, the global supply of neon gas, which is used to make semiconductors, has been affected. This further explains why car brands around the world are experiencing delays in production and delivery.
2022 Honda HR-V S: Value-Packed BASE VARIANT? | Philkotse Review
HCPI launched the all-new HR-V last April 2022. It was initially offered in two variants that both come with Honda Sensing driver-assist tech. The 2022 Honda HR-V S is the entry-level trim that comes with a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine that puts out 119 hp and 145 Nm of torque. The engine is connected to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The 2022 Honda HR-V V, on the other hand, is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that delivers 174 hp and 240 Nm of torque. It also has a CVT.
Recently though, HCPI introduced that all-new HR-V RS trim at the eighth Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). The car brand decided to offer the said variant due to the local market’s demand. As such, the HR-V RS is now the top-spec trim of the said model in the Philippines.
