Going home to provinces will soon be faster.

Traffic jams around the Metro are slowly getting toned down thanks to San Miguel Corporation (SMC)’s relentless drive to build more roads such as the recently-opened Skyway Stage 3. Now, motorists residing in the South will soon have way faster and more convenient trips with the awaited opening of the Alabang-Sucat Skyway Extension.

Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that the Department of Transportation (DOTr) is set to open the northbound portion of the Alabang-Sucat Skyway Extension in the second quarter of the year. Temporary closure of the Alabang Southbound Toll Plaza was already conducted to fast-track the completion of the Skyway extension project.

The Alabang-Sucat Skyway Extension is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2021

“With 61% of the project already complete, travel time from the Skyway main line toll plaza in Sucat, Paranaque to Susana Heights in SLEX will soon be reduced by around 50%, greatly easing the traffic situation for those who are going home to the provinces,” said Secretary Mark A. Villar.

The Alabang-Sucat Skyway Extension is a 3.9-kilometer three-lane expressway that aims to provide motorists going to Cavite, Laguna, and other parts of Southern Luzon a more convenient and faster route. It also aims to ease the harsh traffic conditions especially in the areas around the expressway.

In addition, the DPHW Secretary also announced that to make the Alabang-Sucat Skyway Extension more beneficial to motorists, they will conduct the widening of the Skyway Alabang Toll Plaza. With this, the said tollway will be able to accommodate more motorists coming from both the Northbound and Southbound.

“We are targeting completion of the northbound segment second quarter of the year while the southbound segment is being fast-tracked for delivery on September as part of our goal,” added Villar.
