Hyundai revealed the full details of the facelifted Avante, which is also known as the Elantra and the i30 sedan in other markets. The new features of the updated model for 2024 were shown on the brand’s Korean language domestic retail website.
2024 Hyundai Elantra
This reveal followed the unveiling of the design of the 2024 Hyundai Elantra a couple of weeks ago. The mid-cycle update comes with various changes from the front to the back, and it also includes new onboard tech.
One of the notable new features found on the updated Elantra is the Digital Key 2 Touch for Apple devices. This feature provides drivers with various functions to control the compact sedan using an iPhone or an Apple Watch. This includes unlocking the vehicle by simply placing any of the said devices by the driver's side door handle. Note that up to three people can be given access to this system.
Other tech features include a wireless charger, type-C USB charging ports, a Bose premium sound system, and a built-in dashcam. It also gets an After-Blow air conditioning system, a technology developed by the brand in 2020 to improve air quality by suppressing mold growth.
The sedan can now be unlocked using a phone or an Apple Watch
As seen in the initial photos, the new Elantra comes with a smaller grille now split by a body-colored panel. This is flanked by the redesigned headlamps that look sleeker without the sweeping effect from the outgoing model.
The side profile remains identical to the non-facelift version. However, the sedan does get a new wheel option. Over at the back, the rear end also looks familiar, but it does get a new diffuser and a new U-shaped insert spanning the width of the car.
Available exterior colors are Amazon Gray Pearl, Atlas White, Black Pearl, Cyber Gray Metallic, Ecotronic Gray Pearl, Fluid Gray Metallic, Intense Blue Pearl, Meta Blue Pearl, and Ultimate Red Metallic.
Hyundai offers the Sage Green interior with eco-friendly materials
As mentioned in the initial report, the Elantra is now available with a new interior color. This new color is known as Sage Green. This interior color option is then complemented by environmentally-friendly materials extracted from flax seeds using vegetable oil.
Providing power to the updated 2024 Elantra is a 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated gasoline engine good for 121 horsepower and 154 Nm of torque. A 1.6-liter engine powered by LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) is also offered. This LPG-powered engine can then produce up to 118 horsepower and 152 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with the brand’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).
Sharper and smarter
With the current market strategy of Hyundai Motor Philippines, Inc. (HMPH), it is unlikely to see a sedan model like the new Elantra in its lineup. What we can look forward to instead is the unveiling of the new Hyundai Elantra’s N version expected to happen soon.
