A panel of 100 journalists from 32 countries has voted Lee to take home the accolade. The said award is given to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the global automotive industry from January 1 to December 31, 2022.
According to World Car Awards, Lee contributed big time in the design department, producing Hyundai models such as the N Vision 74, Ioniq 6, and the all-new Kona. He is said to possess a strong design philosophy, vision, and leadership, which are instrumental in shaping the brand’s new design language.

This feat marks back-to-back wins for the Korean automaker in the World Car Person of the Year category. Last year, Hyundai Motor Group Executive Vice President for Design and Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke bagged the said award for designing cars like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and Genesis GV60.
“This honor is not recognition of an individual but a testament to a shared collective passion for creativity encouraged by the dedication of Hyundai top management who set us high standards to achieve,” said Lee.
“Hyundai is taking on many challenges, but this is just the beginning. We believe our greatest achievements lie ahead of us,” added Lee.
