The model scored a back-to-back win.

Hyundai is proud to announce that the Accent managed to top this year’s J.D. Power 2022 U.S. Initial Quality Study’s (IQS) small car category.

Hyundai seeks customer satisfaction

This means that the Korean subcompact sedan has won the award two years in a row. The accolade reflects the automakers’ commitment to ensuring that consumers get quality car models. For a car competing in the mass market like the Accent, the recognition will surely assure a lot of car buyers.

“Back-to-back wins are always hard to accomplish in J.D. Power IQS,” said Hyundai Motor America Quality and Service Engineering Executive Director Omar Rivera. “We are relentless in our pursuit to constantly improve customer satisfaction and quality of our vehicles. Accent is a symbol of our commitment to achieving those goals.”

The results were based on responses from 84,165 purchasers and lessees of new 2022-model year vehicles. It is measured by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100) during the first 90 days of ownership. To note, the lower the number, the higher the score.

The Accent wins it back to back

A 223-question battery is organized into nine vehicle categories, namely infotainment, features, controls and displays, exterior, driving assistance, powertrain, seats, driving experience, and climate. The study was conducted from February through May 2022.

The Hyundai Accent may have finished at the top of its category, but Hyundai Motor Group scored less overall in 2022. As compared to 2021 when the company bagged the most number of awards with seven, it only got three this year. General Motors (GM) took home a year-high nine awards, followed by BMW with five.

It is still unclear whether we will get the quality-boasting Accent in the Philippine market now that the local distributor is undergoing a rebuild. The only models confirmed to join Hyundai Motor Philippines, Inc.’s (HMPH) lineup are the Tucson, Staria, Santa Fe, and Creta.
