The Suzuki Celerio is one of the most affordable vehicles available in the local market right now. Perhaps the biggest selling point of the Celerio hatchback is its practicality in terms of features, powertrain, interior space, and simple exterior layout.
Young Filipino car buyers these days go for a car that offers affordability and styling. This could be one of the many reasons why most affordable vehicles in the country are revamped to look sportier. Take a look at the Suzuki Celerio’s competitor, the Toyota Wigo. The recent release of the 2020 Wigo hatchback comes with sharper exterior details as compared to its outgoing model.

With that being said, we could expect Suzuki to at least enhance the Celerio to look sportier, right? Well, we haven’t seen any clear plans regarding the updates on the 2021 Suzuki Celerio so far. One can expect that the upcoming PH-spec Celerio for 2021 is likely to be a carryover.
However, there are spy shots of what seems to be a new and updated Celerio in India spearheaded by Maruti Suzuki. No actual details have been released just yet by Maruti Suzuki but according to some sources, the new Indian-spec Celerio will possibly be a full model change and is likely to be designed with a new platform.
If we are going for a more likely situation, the PH-spec Suzuki Celerio is sourced from Thailand. And the new Thai-spec Celerio still is in the pre-facelift model. This means that the Indian-spec Celerio is unlikely to be brought here in the country but we are hoping.
2021 Suzuki Celerio: Exterior
You can’t expect as many exterior features on a car marketed to be as affordable as possible. Even the upcoming 2021 Indian-spec Celerio is expected to come with the same exterior features, just redesigned headlamps, tail lamps, and new alloy wheels as seen on the spy shots.
The Suzuki Celerio
Looking at the camouflaged Suzuki Celerio, it looks boxier than the current model. The boxy exterior body creates a more angled look that adds some style as compared to a bland hatchback form. Could we see more piano black trims to add sportiness since the used wheels are blacked-out? We will find out once Maruti Suzuki decided to take off the camouflage probably early next year.
Since we are expecting the 2021 PH-spec Celerio to be a carryover, it is still likely to be installed with halogen headlamps and halogen tail lamps. LED headlights are still unlikely to be installed anytime soon as they are more expensive as compared to halogen. As said earlier, the Celerio is a hatchback marketed to be an affordable option, especially for first-time car buyers.

2021 Suzuki Celerio: Interior
Surprisingly, someone in India has taken a photo of the inside features of the camouflaged Celerio and it looks more stylish. The camouflaged Celerio in India comes with an updated dashboard layout and the interior is blacked-out. This could be the final look for the interior of the Indian-spec Celerio, but we can’t take away the idea that this isn’t finished just yet as well.
Interior view of the Suzuki Celerio
The 2020 PH-spec Celerio comes with hard plastics and chrome trims seen in almost every corner of the hatchback. These trims are installed for cost-cutting measures since other materials such as leather would be impractical to be incorporated into a car meant to be affordable.
If we will get a revised interior, the new Suzuki Celerio could help owners feel like they are not driving a relatively cheap car. This type of design language has been applied to most recent releases such as the facelifted Toyota Wigo, newly-introduced Kia Stonic, and more.
2021 Suzuki Celerio: Engine and performance
In all markets, the engine used in the 2020 Celerio is highly expected to be carried over to the upcoming model. With that being said, the 2021 Suzuki Celerio is expected to come with the same K10B 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine that is capable of generating 67 hp and 90 Nm of torque.
The camouflaged Suzuki Celerio in India is expected to drop next year
For the PH-spec Celerio, the engine can be paired to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT), depending on the trim. All the powertrain components are purposely incorporated in the Celerio so that the hatchback can be fuel-efficient and be tagged as an ideal daily driver.

2021 Suzuki Celerio: On-board and safety features
The 7-inch infotainment screen from the current model that supports Bluetooth connectivity is likely to be carried over to the 2021 model. Installing a larger infotainment screen that comes with more functionality is unlikely to be installed since it will add to the final markup of the hatchback.
Could we see a new all-black interior?
As for safety, no details have been revealed just yet by Maruti Suzuki. So for now, we could expect that the upcoming 2021 Celerio will be equipped with the same safety features such as dual front airbags, an anti-lock braking system (ABS), and reverse parking sensors.

2021 Suzuki Celerio: Final thoughts
As said earlier, the PH-spec Suzuki Celerio is sourced from Thailand. The Thai market still offers the pre-facelift model of the Celerio so a carryover is highly to happen for the 2021 model. The camouflaged Celerio is expected to be marketed only in India by Maruti Suzuki.
The Suzuki Celerio is likely to remain as one of the most affordable vehicles in the country
If no changes will happen, this could be somehow troublesome for the Celerio since other hatchback competitors such as the 2020 Toyota Wigo was updated, while the Kia Picanto is due for a facelift next year. Unfortunately, Suzuki Philippines hasn’t released any statement regarding the plans for the 2021 PH-spec Suzuki Celerio.
2021 Suzuki Celerio: Expected pricing
Since we are not expecting a change for 2021, the best selling point we could only see for the Suzuki Celerio hatchback is its affordable price tag. As of this writing, both the Celerio MT and CVT variants are priced under Php 600,000 only, making it one of the most affordable vehicles in the country.
The only way the Celerio will breach the Php 600,000 mark is when Suzuki Philippines will introduce the new model camouflaged in India since most facelift models generally come with a higher price tag.
