With the new T6, JAC intends to enter the highly-competitive pickup segment of the Philippines. The company is a Chinese state-owned brand that already has quite a collection of massive people carriers. Their entry to the Philippine market, the T6, is built with a capable engine and boasts a muscular front. Given that it is a pickup, the interior design is close to that of a sedan, making everyone comfortable. That body of the T6 is available in several color choices, including Brown, Silver, White, and Black. The T6 is a great vehicle fit for almost any terrain so you can maximize its use. Whether it’s for business or everyday errands, there’s no doubt that you’ll find the T6 a great companion for the road. For the exterior design, the T6 was given a peculiar styling that resonates with some well-known Japanese and American pickups. Inside the cabin is your usual dashboard and a pair of analog gauges just for a sportier look. The T6 can also be a four-wheel-drive if you could pay Php1,090,000. If not, there’s the more affordable rear-wheel-drive setup for only Php 915,000. Other than the drivetrain, all of the other specs for the two variants are the same.
Launch
China is home to a number of vehicle manufacturers. One of them is the producer of the T6, JAC. The company is locally known as Anhui Jianghuai Automobile and has been founded way back in the year 1964.
A few years ago, JAC finally got to enter China’s list of top 10 car-producing companies. This fueled the willpower of the brand and decided that it could expand to the Philippines.
So in 2018, they partnered with Philippine distributor Triesenbrg Auto Corp and proceeded to export some of their products into the country. Immediately at their presentation at MIAS, the company introduced their lineup, which included the JAC T6.

Exterior
A huge grille and sharp-looking fascia complement the T6’s wide front for a tough look that signals its capabilities. It also has adjustable headlights at the front and an integrated antenna that you can use for radio frequencies. Although it does not have a power antenna, the rest of the interior is as comfy as it can get.
It has four doors and a ground clearance of 198 mm. For the dimensions, the T6 has a total length of 5315 mm, a width of 1830 mm, and is 1815mm high. The T6 doesn’t look promising on the outside. But that’s because its manufacturers gave comfort and convenience more attention.
Interior
Unlike its exterior, the interior of the T6 is fully packed with technology for comfort and convenience. It has a total amount of 5 seats, with the rear seats being foldable ones. There are also headrests for those trips where you just need to doze off. All the seats are adjustable, and there’s also a height-adjusting setting for the driver seat. This makes it easier for them to drive in an optimal ergonomic position to avoid unnecessary body pains.
There is also a standard air conditioning system and an air quality control setting. Other than that, you can also count on a heater if things get a little chilly. Aside from that, powered windows and power steering are applied too.
Technology & Safety Features
The T6 also has various techs in it that we’re sure you’ll love. It has a CD player and an FM/AM Radio. There are also speakers at the front and back of the car so that everybody can keep vibing to the tunes. The connection is available in USB and auxiliary input, though Bluetooth is not available.
As for safety features, the T6 has airbags in both the driver and the passenger seats. There are also seat belts and a door ajar warning to keep the doors in check. Crash sensors are also equipped for extra precautions. There are also front and side-impact beams, EBD, and parking sensors too. It also has an anti-theft alarm and device and keyless power door locks for increased security.
Platform & Chassis
The Philippines already imports a lot of tough vehicles from JAC’s competitors. That means if JAC wants to keep up with other manufacturers like Toyota and Hilux, they have to start with a sturdy chassis and platform.
For starters, the wheels of the T6 are Radial R17 and require matching 245/65 R17 tires. This perfect combination makes it easier for the T6 to tread on the country’s signature solid, rocky roads - all without the driver breaking a sweat.
This is further complemented with an adjustable steering column and a rack and pinion steering gear type. The turning radius, on the other hand, is at 6.2 meters.
Engine & Drivetrain
With such a massive body, its only fitting that the JAC T6 carries an equally powerful power source. We can look forward to a 1910 cc 1.9-liter diesel engine mated with a dependable five-speed manual transmission for their imported model.
Manual transmission usually grants the driver better power control and maneuverability. This is especially on terrains, where powerful vehicles are absolutely necessary to overcome road obstacles.
As for digits, the JAC T6 promises a full 135 hp along with 320 Nm of torque. This gives the T6 enough power to accelerate from a complete stop to 100km/h in only 11 seconds.
