The BMW 6 Series 2023 model currently offered in the Philippines is the Gran Turismo. It dons a unique aesthetic that perfectly balances dynamics and style. The German brand employs a comfort concept in designing the executive sedan, to suit its market’s desires for an exceptionally relaxing drive. With this in mind, BMW equipped the 6-Series with generously proportioned and luxurious interior coupled with a plethora of infotainment and convenience features including a BMW Connected voice and gesture activated system. Locally available are five variants of the 6-Series which are the BMW 630i, BMW 640i / 640i xDrive, BMW 620d / 620d xDrive, BMW 630d / 630d xDrive, and the BMW 640d xDrive. All variants are powered by BMW TwinPower Turbo engines in either gasoline or diesel, depending on the model.
Launch
The first ever four-door generation of the 6-Series was locally introduced in 2012. After a few years, however, the 6-Series Gran Coupe was discontinued. In October 2018, the BMW 6-Series made a comeback in the Philippine market as the GranTurismo.

Exterior
The BMW 6-Series sports elegant contours creating a flowing design with a hint of sportiness. Up front is an active air stream kidney grille with a wide grille frame flanked with adaptive LED headlamps and LED fog lamps. Adding to the executive sedan’s sleek style are frameless windows and a panorama glass roof. An active rear spoiler and 3-D LED tail lights enhances the athletic vibe of the vehicle’s look. The 6-Series rides on 17" light alloy wheels as standard. Those looking for more striking rims can avail the Luxury and Sport packages that come with 19" multi-spoke light alloy wheels.
Interior
Its comfort and style concept extend to the interior starting with the generous head and legroom that provides outstanding luxury for its passengers. The cabin is decked in premium trims and finishes, from the upholstery to pearl chrome accents. Seats are wrapped in leather Dakota with an option for line-specific stitching and leather piping. To complete the opulent atmosphere in the 6-Series’ cabin, ambient lighting upgrades are available.
Technology & Safety Features
Crowning the cabin of the 2023 BMW 6-Series is a 10.25-inch touchscreen display hooked to an array of entertainment features and safety controls. The BMW ConnectedDrive provides direct access to music, concierge services, and the sedan’s safety features. It also comes with Apple CarPlay and Google Services. The system can be activated through gesture control or through intelligent voice control system. Audio comes out of a diamond surround sound system.
The fully-digital dashboard is emphasized by a head-up display that gives the driver a convenient and safe way to view the car’s real-time road performance.
Among the standard safety features included in the BMW 6-Series are front and rear Park Distance Control (PDC), driving assistant plus system with steering and lane control assist, remote control parking, Dynamic Stability Control, and active cruise control with stop and go function. One of its most unique protection systems is the BMW Active Protection which provides warning signals and prompts to the driver should there be any potential road hazards ahead.
Platform & Chassis
The 4-door sedan runs on independent double wishbone suspension in front and independent multi-link suspension at the rear. Stopping power comes from front and rear disc brakes. The top-spec 630d variant is equipped with the more advanced adaptive 2-axle air suspension.
Engine & Drivetrain
There are two engine types available for the BMW 6-Series. The base variant 630i is powered by a TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 258 hp and 400 Nm torque. Meanwhile, the 640i and its xDrive counterpart get a TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder gasoline engine that spews out 340 hp and 450 Nm torque. The 620d and 620d xDrive are furnished with a TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder diesel engine that powers 190 hp and 400 Nm torque. Similar to the 640i, the 630d and 630d xDrive comes with a TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder diesel engine producing 265 hp and 620 Nm torque. Lastly, the top-spec 640d xDrive is powered by a TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder diesel engine that ejects a dominant 320 hp and 680 Nm torque.
All engines are mated to an eight-speed Steptronic transmission. The BMW xDrive variants come with an all-wheel drive system while the standard variants have rear wheel drivetrains.
