Build Your Deams Philippines (BYD) has officially launched its latest fully electric vehicle (EV). Dubbed the BYD Atto 3, this EV comes in the form of a compact crossover SUV and it is available in two variants. These are the Dynamic Standard Range and the Extended Range.

So what does the all-new Atto 3 offer to the local market? Let’s find out by going over its exterior and interior design, features, and mechanical specs. 

Exterior

Appearance-wise, the Atto 3 bears a conservative look with a traditional crossover silhouette, but up front, it gets a closed-off grille typical to other EVs. The latter is then paired with sharp-looking LED headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, and minimal angles on its lower front bumper adding to its sleekness.

Towards the sides, the BYD EV gets an ample amount of character lines along with black plastic cladding on its wheel arches. It likewise features power-folding side mirrors with a heating function, and a pair of roof rails up top. 

Compared to its front end, the Atto 3’s rear hosts more eye candy thanks to its LED taillight bar that’s outlined by a slim chrome trim. It also has more angular details on its lower rear bumper, plus a reasonably-sized roof-mounted rear spoiler. 

Other exterior features available on this EV include a set of 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels, and a panoramic sunroof, among others.

For your reference, the Atto 3 is 4,455mm long, 1,875mm wide, and 1,615mm in height. It also offers a ground clearance of 150mm. 

Available color options for the all-new EV include Surf Blue, Parkour Red, Boulder Gray, and Ski White. 

Interior

Inside, the Atto 3 can comfortably seat up to five occupants including the driver. In the front cabin, the vehicle gets a stylish dashboard which according to BYD is inspired by “muscle fiber.” Its bio-mechanical flair is achieved using curved shapes and avoiding angular straight lines.

For the driver, the BYD model offers a five-inch digital gauge cluster, an automatic dimming rear-view mirror, power-adjustable seating, keyless entry, and a center console storage box that doubles as an elbow rest. Cooling for the interior is done via an automatic climate control system with interesting disc-type vents.

Over to the rear cabin, the rear seats get a 60:40 split-folding functionality. All of its seats are then wrapped in synthetic leather. It also has an ambient lighting system for added style. 

Tech & Safety

Dominating the shapely dashboard of the Atto 3 is a 1.2-8-inch touchscreen display. The said screen has Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, but by far, its most unique feature is the ability to rotate and switch between a portrait display mode and a landscape display mode. 

The said touchscreen also has a voice assistant feature and Bluetooth connectivity. Keeping devices topped is done easily thanks to a wireless charging pad, but it likewise has two USB ports on the center console, and another two for the rear.

Feeding sound into the cabin of the top-spec Premium variant is a “Dirac HD” eight-piece speaker system. The Dynamic trim meanwhile, comes with six speakers. 

Safety aboard the Atto 3 is provided by a host of standard features including anti-lock braking with electronic brake-force distribution, electronic stability control, traction control, hill descent control, parking sensors, a reverse camera, ISOFIX child seat anchors, tire pressure monitoring, and up to six airbags (four on Dyamic).

The top-spec Premium trim further enhances the Atto 3’s safety with the addition of a 360-degree view camera, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist. 

Performance

Propelling the 2024 BYD Atto 3 is a permanent magnet synchronous motor. On both the Dynamic and Premium trims, it can make 201 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to its front wheels. 

Depending on the trim, the Atto 3 gets 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels

As per the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), the Dynamic trim which uses a 49.92 kWh battery offers a range of 410 kilometers. The Premium top-spec trim with its larger 60.48 kWh battery meanwhile, has a more generous NEDC-indicated range of 480 km.

According to BYD, the Dynamic variant can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds. The Premium meanwhile, can do zero to 100 km/h a bit faster at 7.3 seconds.

For stopping power, the EV uses disc brakes for all four wheels. Ride quality and handling are ensured by a MacPherson strut suspension for the front and a multi-link suspension for the rear. 

Price

As of its launch, the 2024 BYD Atto 3 Dynamic is priced at Php 1,598,000. The top-spec Atto 3 Premium meanwhile, retails at Php 1,799,000. Each purchase of any of the Atto 3’s trims includes a portable 2.3 kW charger and a free 7 kW charger.
