Following the introduction of the Kicks e-Power, Nissan Philippines has launched another new model to the local market with the Livina, a seven-seater MPV.
2023 Nissan Livina
The Nissan Livina is based on the Mitsubishi Xpander courtesy of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. It is made available in the country in four variants, namely the base 1.5 E MT, 1.5 EL AT, VE AT, and top-spec 1.5 VL AT.
Exterior
Right off the bat, the Mitsubishi Xpander silhouette in the Livina is apparent. But Nissan integrated a few of its signature design details to make the MPV like its own including the V-Motion grille. It is complemented by halogen headlamps on the side as standard, while the EL, VE, and VL get daytime running lights (DRLs).
It shares the same platform as the Mitsubishi Xpander
The Livina E variant is fitted with 15-inch steel wheels, with the EL comes with a silver-painted wheel finish. For a larger set of wheels, you can consider opting for the VE and VL trim which has 16-inch machine-finished alloy wheels. As standard, the front wheels use ventilated discs, while the rear wheels are installed with disc brakes.
Interior
Inside, the interior is once again similar to the one you will see in the Xpander, particularly in the pre-facelift version. You are greeted with black leather seats in the top-of-the-line model. Meanwhile, the rest of the variants come with fabric seats, with the EL and VL getting a brown finish.
The Nissan MPV has a dark cabin theme
We can’t move on without discussing the second and third-row seats in an MPV. The second row has a 60:40 split configuration with a center armrest, while the third row is a 50:50 split seat fold and recline functions. Moreover, the vehicle comes with Nissan Genuine Accessory-floor mats as standard across the range.

Tech & Safety
The Nissan Livina E, VE, and VL are equipped with a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen with Phonelink and Bluetooth. Of note, there’s no Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Meanwhile, a 2-DIN audio system is fitted into the EL AT variant, coming with USB, AUX, tuner, and CD connectivity. Interestingly, the entry-level EL MT is fitted with a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen.
Entering the 7-seater market
In the safety department, only the VE and VL get Hill Start Assist (HSA), a reverse camera, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Traction Control System (TCS), and parking sensors. As for standard safety bits, the list includes two front SRS airbags, ISOFIX and tether anchors, and a high mount stop lamp.
Engine & Powertrain
Powering the Japanese MPV is a 1.5-liter DOHC inline-4 gasoline engine capable of generating 104 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. It is the same engine as the one in the Livina’s Mitsubishi sibling. If you are already familiar with it, you know that the power unit makes 104 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque.

The transmission options of the two MPVs are also the same. A 5-speed manual transmission is offered in the base variant, while the rest use a 4-speed automatic transmission.
