Nissan Philippines has been ramping up its lineup with the launching of improved models. We first got to see that with the Philippine debut of the refreshed Nissan Navara. It is followed by the introduction of the Nissan Terra facelift which now comes with a sleeker and more rugged SUV design.
Fourth-gen Nissan Almera
Now, there’s another improved model that will be joining the car brand’s Philippine lineup, the 2022 Nissan Almera. It is equipped with notable features, a new turbocharged powertrain, and sleeker styling that help it stand out as compared to the outgoing model.
Exterior
The 2022 Nissan Almera comes with a new face similar to the Nissan LEAF, radiating a more premium finish. It is accentuated by the integration of the brand’s V-Motion grille which is not available in the outgoing model. Also, the headlights have been redesigned to look sharper than ever before.
A sleeker and sharper Almera
Depending on the variant, the subcompact sedan can offer either halogen or LED headlamps with daytime running lights (DRLs). The rear-end comes with LED taillights as standard. A set of 15-inch wheels is now the go-to across the range. But, the top-of-the-line Almera VL N-Sport gets to benefit from larger 16-inch alloy wheels.
Nissan Philippines is offering the 2022 model with brighter paint options that are highlighted by the new Cayenne Red. Other options include the Premium Corona Orange, Galaxy Black, Gun Metallic, Brilliant Silver, and Pearl White. To note, the availability of each paint option still depends on the variant.
Interior
The interior of the all-new Almera still offers the spacious cabin found on the outgoing third-gen model. As for the seat material, the base EL uses fabric material. Meanwhile, the mid-spec VE comes with black fabric with gray trim to eliminate a monotone finish. Lastly, the top-spec VL is equipped with black leather with contrast stitching.

In addition, both the driver and front passenger seats benefit from zero gravity seats for a more comfortable ride even on rough roads. A total of three USB ports can be used by passengers in the VE and VL variants, including one 12-volt power socket. The EL only gets one 12-volt power socket and a USB port.
Tech & Safety
The tech and safety part is perhaps where the most significant update can be found. For the VE and VL variants, they are installed with Nissan Intelligent Mobility that comes with an Intelligent Around-View Monitor (AVM).

Other safety features under the mid and top-spec variants include an Intelligent Forward Collision Warning (IFCW), Intelligent Emergency Braking (IEB), and six airbags (note: two on lower variants). Furthermore, exclusive to the VL variant includes a Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), while a Hill Start Assist (HSA) feature is standard across the trim.
Inside, the Almera VL and VE variants are fitted with an 8-inch infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and USB. On the other hand, the base EL variant gets a standard audio system with Bluetooth, USB, and AUX.
Engine & Drivetrain
Under the hood, the 2022 Nissan Almera discontinued the 1.2-liter inline-3 and 1.5-liter inline-4 engines. It instead uses a smaller yet more powerful 1.0-liter inline-3 turbocharged gasoline engine that makes 99 hp with 160 Nm of torque for the 5-speed manual variants or 152 Nm of torque for the XTRONIC Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) variants.
A more powerful sedan from Nissan
With a smaller engine in terms of displacement, the Japanese subcompact sedan is expected to offer better fuel economy as compared to the outgoing model. Additionally, the CVT variants come with an idling stop system which shuts the engine off automatically when the engine is idling. This can further help improve the fuel efficiency of the model.

As compared to the outgoing model, the 2022 Nissan Almera got a price bump which is expected for next-gen versions. See the list below for the official pricing:
