2022 Mazda CX-5 Turbo now available in PH

It’s one of the most powerful in its class in the local market. 

Mazda Philippines has just released the all-new 2022 Mazda CX-5 SkyActiv-G 2.5 Turbo variant for the local market. As per its name, it gets a new turbocharged engine making it the most powerful trim in its variant lineup.

Exterior  

Before talking about its new powertrain though, do note that the new CX-5 pretty much looks the same as other CX-5 trims. It still features the Kodo design language, which of course means a fluid-like, reflective exterior.

Up front, it gets a pair of LED headlamps with auto-leveling, high beam control, as well as a new adaptive front lighting system. The rear then comes with LED taillights, as well as a power tailgate. 

From the side, one will see that it rides on a set of 19-inch alloy wheels that come in a Bright Silver Finish. The top of this new variant also gets an electric glass sunroof.

Available colors for this new Mazda CX-5 variant include the new Zircon Sand Metallic and Polymetal Gray colors.

Interior  

Inside, this new Mazda CX-5 offers a comfortable cabin for up to five occupants. Its seats are clad in Deep Red Nappa Leather, and it also gets rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat a digital gauge cluster, a push-to-start button, a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror, among others.

Fitting in cargo is also made convenient with a 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats. On top of those, it also has an ample amount of cup holders and cubby storage holes.

Tech & Safety

On board entertainment for the CX-5 turbo is then handled by an 8-inch headunit that’s linked to a 10-piece Bose sound system. Connectivity options for this infotainment system include wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity. 

Moreover, this variant is also equipped with an active driving display that is projected onto the front windshield, as well as a wireless smartphone charger.

For the Mazda CX-5 Turbo, safety is then handled by a total of six airbags. Like most modern models, it also comes standard with parking sensors, anti-lock braking with electronic brake-force distribution, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and stability control. 

On top of those though, it also comes with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, a 360-degree view camera, a driver attention warning system, and automatic emergency braking.

Engine & Performance

Now, the piece-de-resistance for this new CX-5 variant is of course its new engine. As mentioned above, it’s a 2.5-liter inline-4 gasoline mill, which now has forced induction via a turbocharger.  

At maximum, this four-banger can produce up to 249 horsepower and 434 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful CX-5 variant, and one of the most powerful compact crossovers in the market right now.

For transmissions, it uses the same six-speed automatic that is present on other trims. Power is also sent to all four wheels via the Mazda I-Activ all-wheel-drive system, which is also available on the CX-5 Sport AWD

It also comes with an electronic parking brake with auto brake hold function, as well as a start/stop idling system. The new CX-5 turbo variant however, is now the heaviest in its variant lineup with a curb weight of 1,712kg.  

Pricing

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 SkyActiv-G 2.5 Turbo is priced at Php 2,380,000. This means that it is Php 390,000 more expensive compared to the CX-5 Sport AWD.
