Subaru Philippines showcases three reworked models at this year’s Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). One of which is the updated version of the Subaru Outback.
Subaru Outback
Looking at the new Subaru Outback, the updates are barely noticeable since most of the changes are software-related. These updates however are said to make the wagon more advanced than it already is.
You can see new steering wheel controls and updated Type-C USB charging ports inside. In terms of software updates, the vehicle gets a tweaked driver’s multi-info display and a new user interface for the infotainment system.
Regarding the infotainment system, the Outback has an 11.6-inch vertical head unit equipped with wireless connectivity for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Moreover, the system is paired with an 11-speaker Harman Kardon system with a subwoofer and an 8-channel amplifier.
Also new to the updated version is the auto-restore X-Mode, which automatically switches the traction control system to ‘standby’ when it runs over 40 km/h. It will be reactivated once the speed goes below 35 km/h.
The wagon just got smarter
Carried over from the pre-facelift version is the same 2.5-liter boxer-4 engine. At maximum, this gasoline boxer-4 is capable of generating 185 horsepower and 245 Nm of torque. Also retained on the updated Outback is a Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system and a Lineartronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission).
The only exterior update is found on the 18-inch alloy wheels. Although the new design still looks similar to the old one, the spokes now have a straighter orientation.
The updated Subaru Outback’s sole variant is priced at Php 2,480,000. Visit Subaru’s MIAS booth to see the updates on the wagon, as well as on the new Forester GT Edition and Evoltis facelift.
“As for those seeking an SUV with uncommon luxury, they will certainly find it in our new 2023 Outback,” said Mr. Glenn Tan, Deputy Chairman, and Managing Director of Tan Chong International Limited.
“With focus on providing even more effortless and engaging driving experiences, new enhancements such as an updated user-friendly 11.6-inch HD display interface, ability to connect wirelessly to Apple CarPlay and exterior design tweaks will take the already luxurious Outback to the next level,” added Tan.
